@Princetonian9 I don’t know what your major is but on assist.org, at least for engineering there is a link there that takes you to their site and lays out classes that are required for admission, meaning they will NOT allow you to go there without having those classes.
I’ll look into that. I know that major prereqs are required but what about ges??
@otoribashi sure, it’s here.

Hello! My major is international relations I got accepted into UCSD Roosevelt college… little nervous as I’ve heard it’s the most difficult of the six could anyone clarify or give more information?
@serendipity2395 Hey man, I was accepted into ERC as well. In terms of difficulty, its merely the two writing classes you have to take – MMW 121 and MMW 122. They both consist of writing papers about topics ranging from history, politics, anthropolgy, and sociology. Hope I was able to help.
Does anybody know how difficult the transfer process is from Undeclared to Mechanical Eng or just the Jacobs School of Eng in general?
@mechengMCC From what I’ve heard its very difficult. You may need to have a 4.0 and work in the lab to get your foot in the door
I appealed my rejection. Since I have “new and compelling information”, as they coined it, hopefully I have a shot of getting it overturned. UC BERKELEY COMES OUT WITH DECISIONS TOMORROW. Best of luck to all of you!
Rejected
GPA : 3.93
Major : Economics
Pre-req : Calculus 3 not completed
IGETC : completed
Got accepted to CSULB, UC Davis
Rejected from UCSD, UCLA
Guys, should I appeal?
@itsromeosuckaa where can i appeal?
Engineering is tough to get into at UCSD (lol let’s be real, it’s tough to get in anywhere now at this point). Pretty sure undeclared majors have to opt into the lottery system for an engineering major, don’t they? Same with CS.
@itsromeosuckaa hey I was going to appeat today as well!! What did you say? I’m not sure I have anything for new and compelling information so I was just thinking about saying I made a mistake on the app and put 2 capped majors? Any ideas?
Anyone get into STARS for summer 2017 at UCSD?
Anyone want to trade colleges with me? I got Revelle
@Eunie314 yeah I definitely would… calc 3 isn’t a prereq though? Just calc 1 and 2. I got in with same major with a 3.75 so that’s weird
Posting my stats so future engineering majors can hopefully use this in some form or another. Congrats to all that got in, and to those that did not, do not worry you are all talented and hard working individuals!
Admitted (4/21 & CCC transfer)
Major: Aerospace Engineering
GPA: 3.78
Major GPA: 3.89
College: Muir
Pre-Req: Complete
IGETC: Complete
Accepted: UCSD, UCI, SDSU
Rejected: UCLA
@ohm888 i read the link you sent me and it didn’t answer the question i asked you. you said something about how students who stay on the waitlist for a longer amount of time are more likely to enroll if given a position… 100% you said. that article you just sent didn’t say anything about this.
“And stats have shown the longer someone holds out on a waitlist the more likely it is they will enroll (almost 100%). It’s a strategy that’s been covered in NYT and US News, among others. If you notice the UC waitlists have grown astronomically bigger theses last few years, or been started when they used to not have them. Coincidence? Maybe.”
do you have any further reading for that first and second sentence you said there?
Hey folks, is there any UCSD admit page on Facebook or Instagram I can join?
UCSD Transfer 2017 Group @andreshken on Facebook
@Bdnsc369 Thanks, just requested to join
@otoribashi It’s there in the article. I’ve read it elsewhere as well. I don’t dig the interrogation vibe you are throwing about a minor issue. This is is college confidential, not the pentagon. I won’t respond further.
"I could not agree more that the best way to compare the selectivity of elite schools is on the basis of the yield rate for regular(i.e., open market) admits.
Filter out the early admits, no matter what the program is called, and subtract the wait list admits – who generally matriculate at a juicy 100% yield rate.
I have calculated the estimated numbers for Harvard – which has the highest yield rate over all, at nearly 81% :
(1) 774 early admits, with an estimated yield rate of 91.5% – netting 708 students;
(2) 25 wait list admits, with an estimated 100% yield rate – netting 25 students;
(3) 1,258 “regular” admits, with an estimated yield rate of 74%, netting 932 students.
The rough estimated “regular” yield rate at Stanford this year is 63.9% (although 100 athletic scholarship recipients, with a 100% yield rate, should perhaps be netted out as well, leading to a lower “true” regular admissions yield rate of about 62%.)
The rough “regular” yield rate at Yale (assuming 25 wait list admits) will be 53%, and the rough “regular”
