UCSD Fall 2018 Transfer Thread

@yelloww how much did they give you? trying to figure out if my package is good or not lol

I was admitted to uci, ucr, and ucsd with a 3.55 overall gpa. I had so many Ws from 2013-2014 I got put on academic probation. Since I’ve returned to CC in summer 2016, I dropped my English 102 class TWICE!!! Currently taking it rn. The only EC I put down was working part time and I volunteered at an adult day care for a couple of months. That’s it! Nothing fancy!

.

@dbxstian outside of blue and gold they offered enough to cover one semester for me (13.9k), not incl housing (off-campus), and with the loans I could pull, it would cover the other semester. That’s if for some reason my blue and gold doesn’t go through. If it does, idk how the pell grant/bobcat grant works - do I get to keep it? If so, with tuition covered, the 13.9k they offered would go towards whatever I want? I have to talk to an advisor bc I don’t know how the gift aid works and if I have blue and gold, do I still get it lol??

@smugguy90 hey bro just updating on what you told me about credits from another 4 year institution, i talked to a counselor and got info regarding it.

It actually applies to students who have taken upper division courses and recieved credit for it at a 4 year. That is the condition that UCs dislike and messes with your junior status.

@yelloww thats pretty good, is the 14k just the bobcat grant or in total? They only offered me 9k for the bobcat grant so I’m a bit hesitant.

@dbxstian my bobcat grant was 10k and 3.7k from pell grant. Do you qualify for blue and gold (under 80k annual)? I think it’s pretty good, depends on your pell grant if you’re eligible for that as well. Covering half a year of schooling is not so bad for me considering if I get the same award for the next year, I would be getting my bachelors for 50% off :stuck_out_tongue:

I’m still waiting on UCSD tho, which is my first choice until I see what they offer. But blue and gold will save me so definitely look into that! They didn’t say I qualified for it until I got the letter in the mail.

Just got rescinded. Hopefully someone else can take my spot

Why did you get rescinded?

@mrobs2 What happened?

Dropped a course that actually was required for my major  rescinded from UCLA as well

Oh crap. Dude…Have you been rescinded from all schools or do you still have a chance?

Not really sure  I didn’t think calculus was even related to my major but even the non-UCs that accepted me could rescind me for dropping it.

I’m looking to drop a class that’s not a major pre-req but would like to let the school know before I do. This class is not a requirement for admissions or part of my contract. Where would I go for this?
Admissions has an inquiry form online but I was wondering if there was something specific for admitted students?

@Cygnyss You have to e-mail the ucapplication at docs@applyucsupport.net with documentation. You should also e-mail admissionsreply@ucsd.net with the changes as well. Also, call the admissions office to have them make a note of the changes. I dropped (without W’s) three non-prereq classes and they told me that I should be fine.

@mrobs2 That’s rough. Hopefully the non-Uc’s let you take it over the summer/fall.

Does anyone know when financial aid packages will be released?

Was told it would be out by Friday

Did anyone get Regents? Or is that being announced later?

3.89 GPA and I wasn’t notified about Regents.

@seda99 @jcooley98 fin. aid packages are released.

I have a question! So they say I’m eligible for Blue and Gold which is supposed to cover tuition and fees and it’s showing estimated 14.5k for tuition. In gift aid, I got only 3.7k from pell grant and 3.3k from the ucsd grant. They threw in a cal grant which is weird cause merced didn’t quote any cal grant which is 12.6k. In total, 19.7k.

They also said that I was eligible for blue and gold which is “met” by the 12.6k cal grant - which obviously doesn’t cover tuition (which is only the semester??). So what am I missing lol, I thought blue and gold covers tuition completely. I’m guessing that if you already get aid they don’t offer over the cost of tuition? But what is offered doesn’t fully cover it so I’m confused /:

@yelloww I believe blue and gold covers the REST of your tuition that isn’t covered by PEL and your other fin. aid.
