agnijay, did you find this out directly from gppa? bc if so, that’s a good thinkg bc 370 is relativly low compared to other years, right? :)

Yup, Dean Bottoms told this to my dad directly.

Actually, all of the 700-800 numbers are either WAY inflated or include all GPPA programs. 350-400 is about normal.

To everyone who attended the gppa interviews last weekend, I was wondering how the dress code was? I’m kind of freaking out about how formal it is…I have a skirt suit that I was planning to wear but I don’t want to look “too professional” if there is even such a thing haha. Thanks! :D

hey guys I have an interview with the honors college this friday and was wondering how i should prepare for it. I mean, is it just like any other college interviews where I would be saying all this good things about the college and talking about specific programs that the college offers?
or since i have applied to the GPPA program, should i talk mostly about my interest as a GPPA student?

Thanks!!!

Just got email for honors college interview. Apparently they have only gone through one wave so far and there are 6 waves total with at least 100 students in each wave. So don’t worry if you have not been contacted yet.

SO, have any of you gone to the interview yet? How was the essay ? (It was average for me.) What was the hardest question ? ( First one)

Do not discuss any specifics about the essay topics here. That will get you in trouble!!

are the essay questions difficult? are they about you or just other topics

You’ll find out when you do your interview!

does anyone know when second interview notifications go out?

Well, considering that you have to be accepted to the hc first and that takes 2 or 3 weeks, it would be that many weeks after your interview MINIMUM. And you can get notified up to March 18th… It’s definitely rolling.

I received both the Honors college and Medicine interview. I received the Honors College invite about a week ago and have my interview next weekend. I just received my GPPA medicine invite three days ago. Good luck to everyone else!

dreth7 . How did you receive the GPPA Medicine interview ? As far as I know ,you have to take the Honors College interview first.

Yeah that’s how I know it too. You have to go to the Honors interview first and based on that they call back for gppa med interview. Has that changed?

Dreth7:

What you are saying is inconsistent with all the official information form GPPA Med. You HAVE to complete the Honors College interview before you are considered for the Medical school interview. My recommendation to the other users of the forum is to ignore this poster, since the information is suspect.

dreth7:
To prove the truth and accuracy of the info you’re providing please copy the invitation for the GPPA medicine interview and post over here. :D

The UIC GPPA interview invites are sent starting Feb 1st per the website.

Also, I thought the medicine invite could happen independently of the honors college invite since it comes from a different source(medical school) and not honors college.

Cheers…

Well, GPPA, maybe, but Medicine is a whole new ball game. UIC has SEVERAL GPPA programs, and not all of them require Honors admission.

Now, you can get into GPPA Med without ANY Med interview at all, but everyone has to go to the Honors College first; Honors College is required for all Med class members.

Speaking of which, has anyone heard from the Honors College yet? They said 2-3 weeks, and it’s been two…

I feel absolutely no need to defend myself. However, below is a single line excerpt from my email. For everyone else, there is no need to worry. Admissions are definitely sent out on a rolling basis.

“Your interview for admission into the UIC College of Medicine Guaranteed Professional Program Admission (GPPA) is scheduled for Monday, February 20 from 12:15 noon – 3:15 p.m… Please report to Room 988 College of Medicine East Building in the Department of Medical Education”

dreth7:

Invitation of the interview for GPPA in Medicine was sent out last week. Interview with the honors college is not absoultely required for GPPA medicine.

Good luck!
