I think UMKC is a fine school. You will come out a very fine doctor from that School.

However, the general argument against completing your MD in 6 or perhaps even 7 years is that you can lose out on the opportunity to study and get exposed to wide array of knowledge outside of the pre-med and medical curriculum.

This breadth of knowledge is not critical if you want to become a doctor and practice medicine, but would be very useful if you want to go to medical research.

UIC GPPA program encourages students to do research or even a masters during the 4rth year.

From what I understand, UMKC program relies heavily on Summer courses. Usually the educational value of a 6 weeks summer course meeting 4 times a week may not be equal to what you get from a 12-14 week quarter/semester meeting less frequently for most students…Of course there can be exceptions…

UIC commomapp supplement has a space to upload extra information. Did you upload your resume again here or are you required to do another essay besides the personal statement essay, the honors college essay and the gppa essay.

Quick question for people who have been through this before. Do you get your acceptance letter before they notify you about GPPA/Honors College? I applied to the GPPA program and I got my acceptance letter today and it doesnt mention GPPA or Honors College.

First Honors College interview today. Wasnt that bad. Weird that I got GPPA interview email before I even did the Honors College interview though. Anyone else get this? I thought they weeded out some ppl after Honors College interview

I got a GPPA interview invitation the day I was supposed to go to my Honors College interview, which was weird like I said earlier since I thought they weeded out people after the first one

what is the process for this gppa? do they tell everyone whether they are selected or not? or do they inform only those that get an interview? is there a date as to when everyone would know whether they got the interview or not?

No don’t think that at all. It seems with the GPPA that they are a different entity from Honor’s college and they seem to not coordinate their acceptances even though they make it sound like they do. You might still get called for an interview.

they said that they’ll be extending GPPA interviews until March 19 (roughly), but might extend later dates since they’ll go back and assess the applications all over again

If I am not mistaken, last year GPPA Medicine interviews were conducted Feb 2nd week thru March 3rd week or so. Admission notifications were posted April 1st week.

Based on what I understood, GPPA interviews are not meant to be difficult. They want to guage your suitability to the program.

Just be yourself, relax and answer the questions confidently.
