@Wecount sorry I don’t really have any idea about their admissions policies other than what I read here or in the media. I did find this a while back that said CS+Chem is about 47 students http://www.news-gazette.com/news/local/2017-12-10/uis-cs-x-degrees-add-many-different-levels.html
Anybody committed to UIUC ?
Is Statistics/Computer Science very selective also?
Anybody knows when the summer registration for freshmen happens?
@3lovingmom The two years I have gone (2013 and 2015), they started the first Monday in June, and I believe they run into July.
@tonypa Thanks so much!
Did anyone get business honors here?
Do people on the waitlist only get notified when they get in at like May or June or do they tell us immediately once a place opens up and we get chosen?
Did anyone appeal to UIUC?
They said decisions come out March 1st onwards.
Does anyone know if they are releasing it soon?
I just discovered this thread, so here’s my stats.
Indian CBSE student
SAT 1 : 1420
SAT 2 : 800 M 800 C 780 P
TOEFL : 107
I’m going to write AP Physics C: Electricity and Magnetism, AP Calculus BC and AP Chemistry
CGPA 10 in Grade 10
Expected 94.2% for 12th
EC’s : Not much. School Headboy, Guitar (Trinity Guildhall Grade 4), Organized an interschool cultural fest, MIT edX course (Circuits and Electronics 1, still doing. I plan on doing more), I play Basketball and Waterpolo (just hobbies), I love reading books and research papers, I love DIY’ing anything related to electronics. No community service or internships, Public Speaking ang MC’ing, Spell-Bees.
Also as part of my Investigatory Projects that count towards my final grades for Grade 12, I chose to base all of my three projects on Nanotechnology instead of the usual easy stuff (Most people chose easy because we have a Viva based on our projects). I did it because I wanted to go I did research on my own and based my experiment around a very Simple Benedicts Test and made Copper Nanoparticles and I investigated the antimicrobial properties of Copper Nanoparticles on Yeast Cells. I had no research advisor because I live in an area where that is not possible and hence I had no access to fancy Lab equipment and had to do my research on my own because even my teachers were a bit clueless.
My Essay for EE was good. My Essay for Math was really good and much better than the one for EE (Cause I just love Math, it is the greatest of all Sciences after all :D)
Applied: Regular Decision
1st choice : EE
2nd choice: Math
Status: Accepted into Math. I plan on doing a pre-engineering program and transferring into EE (if I qualify) and doing a Math and EE Double Major.
Also applied to Berkeley. Anyone got any Idea about my chances?

Has anyone heard anything about scholarships yet?
DD got an email today saying she’s a James Scholar…basically an Honors program. She’s early accepted into engineering/aerospace.
@rathel86 Yes, scholarship info has already gone out (I got an email)
So far UIUC is my son’s top choice for USA, but he is still waiting for one uni in UK. If he accepts UIUC now and pay the fee, will he be able to withdraw later should he decide to choose the UK uni? We don’t mind if we don’t get the refund.
@Merapi42A I believe so yes, there is an option on my Accepted Student dashboard to reverse my “You accepted admission” decision
I would just wait though, you don’t have to accept your admission offer for U of I until (at the latest) until May 1st, and by then your son should know where he wants to go.
@audreykoz thank you!
