Maybe tomorrow!
Decisions are definitely not in order of how they came in. 3 of my friends submitted on November 2nd and got decisions in the first 2 waves, but I am still waiting and submitted on October 31st.
I’m pulling for you Pats0128!
@2024Mama Thank you! UMass is my dream school but a bit of a reach. Hoping we all hear back real soon.
@Patriots0128 I’m only saying what I’ve been told and what I’ve read. No one knows for sure what admissions reasoning is for sending out decisions when they do, or what order they send them. Apparently, there is no rhyme or reason. Maybe, like I had mentioned, it depends on how complex or straight forward the app is. No one knows for sure. I just wish they would have some consideration of what people are going through, and get them out!!!
Hoping if I expect nothing today something will come out!
Same here, the waiting is so stressful, when is everyones guess for more EA decisions?
My guess is either today or tomorrow. That will have given them four or five days to work on them since admissions dept re-opened after the holiday. I would hope that at least some of them are ready to be released!! But I like what @rola23 said … maybe if we don’t expect something, then something will come out. ???
So I just called admissions again. I asked if they would be releasing any decisions this week. She said she didn’t know about that, but did say that within “the next few weeks” they would have all of the decisions out. So that sounds somewhat promising! My guess is if it is like last year we may not hear this week but should hear next week.
Hi Everyone
Comparing between Computer Science program at Rutgers vs UMass Amherst. Wondering which one is better , assuming the cost works out to be the same .
Would love to hear from people who would know more about it.
Thanks
My daughter had an email from UMass yesterday to log into the portal. When she did they asked her to pick a science major outside of engineering, and there was a note saying she can take engineering courses and as seats open in the school of engineering she can re-apply after the first semester. Does anyone know more about that option? How likely is it that she would be accepted into engineering eventually? Is it worth the risk considering she has been accepted by three engineering schools at other universities? Thank you.
@WaitingOnCollegeResponses
A “few”weeks sounds to me like they are giving themselves until the end of the month. Hope I am wrong. But I think they should at least tell students the date of next release.
I agree… for them to say they don’t know if they will release any this week seems disingenuous… how can they not know? or are they truly that disorganized. I think a lot of us could handle the truth… if they just gave at least a tentative schedule.
Yes I agree that if they were to give us a tentative schedule of the release dates that would reduce some of the stress.
I agree, the horrible part of it is not knowing when they are going to come out. If they gave us all of the dates, the wait would not be nearly as bad.
ic they are missing their own deadlines - they need to formally notify applicants.
From their email “The UMass Amherst Office of Undergraduate Admissions will begin releasing decisions for Early Action applicants during the week of December 9, 2019. Not all decisions are released at the same time. We will continue to release them throughout December and into the first part of January.”
How do they define 1st part of January? Jan 15th? can’t be read to mean any later than that.
It’s not very professional to not know as much as they do, and if you read back on previous years threads, the same thing has happened. One applicant, who applied EA had said his friend, who applied RD, had his decision before he did. Another poor person, who applied RD, heard back AFTER May 1st!! He had no choice than to pay the deposit for his second choice school!! This was in either last year’s thread and/or two years ago. For such a huge state school with a good reputation and with so much opportunity for students, their admissions has to be one of the most disorganized departments around. I had no idea it was going to be like this for my daughter and so many other people!
If RD come out before all EA come out that will really piss me off. Completely unfair.
We expected EA to help inform RD applications. Could have saved $ on fees if we we told she got in in December!!!
.
My son applied to engineering as well, but did not receive any response yet. Do you mind sharing your daughter’s stats? That’s promising for your daughter that if she picks a different major, then she’s basically in. I think the odds are pretty good to get accepted into the engineering program next semester since I hear a LOT of students switch majors. And she shouldn’t really miss a beat if she takes some engineering courses first semester.
