Hi there - my brother applied in-state EA an still have not heard. Wondering if anyone has noticed any changes today? Thanks!
Are we hearing from Umass today? Impatiently waiting…
No one knows when we are going to hear anything. It’s all a guessing game. They are tweeting about all sorts of things, such as reminding regular decision applicants to get their apps in before the deadline, but no mention about EA decisions!! I know we are going to get our answers, at some point, but this waiting is anxiety provoking!! My daughter is one of the ones left hanging!!! So inconsiderate and so not right to do to people!!!
waiting… waiting…
About half of my son’s friends have heard and the other half have not (in-state). I think UMass is the right size and environment for him, so I really hope he gets in. He’s an Honors student at a top public HS with 1410 SAT but not a stellar, standout student. Ugh.
@2024Mama can you confirm if either of your son’s friends received a rejection. I have not heard anyone in this thread talk about rejections. Wondering if UMass has shared both acceptance and rejection decisions.
I am on a similar boat, waiting to hear about my son’s application decision.
I am really hoping they will release decisions today, even though i know that they probably won’t.
No rejections in his friend group.
I did see someone a few pages back said they’d received a Wait List notification.
I wonder if they will start sending only rejections sometime soon…
Admissions have stated this year and in past years, the decisions come out in the order the apps came in. First in, first out. They are not doing all acceptances first and saving rejections for last. I personally know people whose children graduated from this college and they went through the same waiting game. One of their sons heard literally at the very end and he was accepted. Please try not to post things about rejections coming out last, because it makes some of us, who are still waiting, more anxious. Thank you.
I disagree, I submitted my app a few days before my friend and he got his back in the first wave.
my Student, first applied in August… and application was complete by mid October, and still hasn’t heard back…
@Equinox1 where did you see/hear admissions say 1st in 1st out?
That isn’t consistent with experiences here.
I’m only stating what I have read, and what I have been told from several other former/current UMASS students and/or parents. Every application is different. Every student is unique. Some applicants require more selectivity based on stats, major, special qualities, etc. Some are more straight forward and some are more complex and require more time. None of us on this thread know what day/time decisions will be coming out. None of us have an “in” with admissions and know information that no one else does. My point is, when some people are trying to think positive and not let our minds take us to a negative place, comments such as above make it difficult to continue hoping all will have a positive outcome. That’s all I am saying. Try to have faith that all will be ok. We or our children are all applying EA here, which has a higher acceptance rate than RD. Hold onto that and hope for the best.
@equinox1 My apologies if my comment caused anxiety, I am remaining positive, just noticing trends from previous years.
I am hoping many more acceptances will come out today!
I should add that my son’s friends almost certainly applied before he did.
@1234dcba stay in that positive place. Don’t go back to previous times. Stay in the present and tell yourself that you are likely to be just fine!
Other decisions came out by 4:40pm on decision days; my son didn’t hear again today. Anyone else?
Nope, nothing here.
@gretchen101 I had read that on another thread. Someone had re-posted something that was possibly from twitter a while back. Like I mentioned in my post, parents of current and former students had learned that from admissions and had given me that information. Like I said, none of us on here knows any inside information about when any decisions come out, though I wish someone did!
