UMass Amherst Class Of 2026 EA

On Instagram they said that there would be more admit waves

My son was accepted EA from OOS in November. Since then we’ve received no communication from the school, while the other schools he’s gotten in to send emails consistently with all sorts of information and even holiday greetings. Not as familiar with UMass but is this concerning to anyone else? My son’s first choice right now is UMass based on one visit but I’m looking for more input from parents who maybe are more familiar with the school.

Presumably you can call ask. We are from NJ. Rutgers sent a mail yesterday for the first time.

I believe you should get those emails once all EA decisions are out.
Hopefully, they will have in-person Destination Days. They have one for EA admitted students and another for regular decision students. One of my kids went to both days after being admitted in EA and loved it.

FWIW I was admitted the very first day (12/7?) (applied on the deadline for EA - 11/5 iirc?) - my gpa is 3.79 unweighted (but 4.2 or so if you only counted grades 10-12, and am at a VERY competitive HS), didn’t take SATs or ACT (not even MCAS lol), nor any AP courses. I’m a history major (my first choice.) In state, no merit aid nor honors college.

What was the UW GPA? My son has the same stats but no scholarship! How do they award these? He got into the Isenberg school of management.

Anyone know when the next wave is coming out? I know they said their will be additional waves in January, but when?

So far they have released decisions on Tuesdays.

Decisions will flow in till January.

  • Insta update / response to Pat’s query.

Scholarships will be still available for the decisions from now till Jan end.

Agreed. almost everyone that gets into UMass Amherst would qualify for the Abigail Adam’s scholarship, but that’s about all merit offered for in-staters. My daughter got some extra merit her first year only and just AA scholarship since then.
Lowell would have been nearly full ride but she loved Amherst.

It was in my acceptance letter

My son is a junior at UMass, and they are pretty good with communication to parents. The Office of Parent Services sends regular emails and there is a very helpful Facebook page for parents. That said - it is a large state school and students need to be on top of things and read their emails thoroughly. They don’t hold anyone’s hand, but there are loads of resources if you look for them. As we are in-state, I know tons of kids who go to UMass, and they all love it, I don’t know of anyone who has transferred out.

Thanks for the feedback! My older son goes to a large state school and I went to a large state school so that we’re prepared for, we just were surprised to get no communication from UMass vs. the other state schools who seem to bombard us with information weekly. We got a good vibe on our visit there and hope to go back for admitted student days to see if my son still feels that good vibe.

We are OOS and haven’t received a single email since my DD got her acceptance over a month ago.

Nope, that was a private high school

Have your student check E-mail. My DD was accepted 12/7 (OOS) and she had an e-mail today about upcoming admitted student events

I tried joining the Parent FB page and my request is pending and has been for quite a while (like a month or so). Can you give me the exact name of the helpful FB page —maybe I requested the wrong one? Thanks

Also, is there an office I can contact to have my E-mail added for any future parental communication? As others have stated, I have received some communication from other state universities my DD has been accepted to (or at the very least, a brief E-mail congratulating us on our daughter’s initial acceptance). UMass? Crickets
