No mention of merit aid thoughā¦so not sure if he didnāt receive any or itās still to be determined?

Good ECās (volunteering, teaching Special Olympics, varsity sport)
I was accepted to the Exploratory Track for Business in the Isenberg School of Management. I think it is because I put āundecided businessā when applying! This is the exact message:
You have been admitted to the Exploratory Track for Business in the Isenberg School of Management . You have also received a Chancellorās Award in the amount of $10,000 per academic year.
I am assuming all academic based scholarships are given out with admission letters!
I got into the Exploratory Track for Business as well. Does anyone know what this means? Am I guaranteed a major in Isenberg? I picked finance as my major originally.
I think it is just for you to learn about the different majors in Isenberg⦠I think I clicked undecided so I thought that was the reason. This has been one of my top schools and if I am not guaranteed a business major I will not be attending here
applied for CS. Still waiting.
so this wave is only Business?
If I am not guaranteed a major in Isenberg then there is no point of going to UMass
Applied for CS. Still waiting
You can read about the exploratory track on the UMass website. You have to maintain certain grades in specific classes to continue in Isenberg after the first year. You also are in seminars with other exploratory students to help you examine the business majors within Isenberg as well as other majors across campus.
Exploratory Track is basically a probationary freshman year where you are not yet in the specific school/major you picked. You must meet GPA 3.0 and other requirements to be even considered after your freshman year. If you are not selected, you are welcome to stay, but not in your desired major. Find a different major.
Umm, no thanks.
Why is it a problem? It is called pre-business in some schools. For example, Penn State Smeal requires a 3.2 GPA to continue ⦠Ami I missing something.
Not really a problem. But when compared to the other opportunities in hand; direct admit to 4 other programs at 2 schools similar, and 2 schools more selective ⦠into the specific desired program, why would would anyone even consider this?! I wouldnāt. But I understand others might.
I heard that tuition would be free if get accepted into Umass Amherst honor program. Is it true?
Son accepted into college of engineering (computer engineering) today per the portal. Well, accepted on the 9th but the portal only updated today. No email. Pretty nice news. Even with chancellorās award it is much more expensive than in-state but it is such a good school that I am super excited the kiddo got in.
If you donāt mind, would you share his stats please? Thanks.
Where are you seeing that? My D was accepted Exploratory Track Humanities as she is Undecided. Here is the link to the website and it does not say anything about it being a probationary year. It would be upsetting if they arenāt being transparent about the acceptance coming with conditions.
The Exploratory Track: What is it? : UMass Amherst
Thatās different and nothing to worry about. They offer exploratory tracks as a choice if youāre undecided, but business exploratory is when you are not directly admitted to a business major. You canāt choose business exploratory.
