A tricky part is that different schools have different RD deadlines. Even if UMass Amherst managed to release decisions by Jan 15th, some people would ask why not by Jan 1st, which is the deadline for many schools. If they do it before Jan 1st, then why not before ED I decisions?
I just hope it will be before ED II decisions and before Feb 1st, which is the RD deadline for some schools.
so the big question is will we hear this week, or are final EA decision going to go out Jan 31ā¦particularly for nursing. or will we just never hear back at allā¦
Child is still waiting here for business (OOS). Sadly, it was one of my childās top choices 6 months ago but since hearing from every other EA school they applied theyāve kind of given up on UMass and itās fallen to the bottom. Think the chances of getting in at this point are slim, so probably just as well.
Has anyone heard of ANYONE getting rejected up to this point? I havenāt heard of anyone getting rejected. This last wave or waves could be brutal but hope Iām wrong.
Same. Son is thankfully an accepted DA to Kelley at IU, Smeal at PSU and Lerner at UD. All were mid November to mid December. Villanova was a reject but all were timely and communicated well. He took a summer program at Isenberg so it was at the top of his list. The lack of communication is amazing to us. IU and UD have been non-stop with information, merit, aid, housing, activities and on campus āmeetsā. Waiting on Isenberg is not only frustrating but likewise has more than made up his decision to move on from UMASS even if accepted. Good luck to everyone.
Agree on the lack of communication. Even IF our child gets in I think heās moved on to other options. At this point UMass has all applications. We have some other good options, so itās all good.
It is better that the kid is cool as a cucumber than becoming very stressed about the decision. Otherwise the parent will be stressed about two things ā the decision, and the stressed kid :-).
Agree Neela1. Stress is contagious within the family.
Some folks think most of all the forthcoming decisions are going to be either deferrals or refusals. I donāt think so. Over 300 students from my sonās school apply to Amherst and 200+ gets accepted. 1/5th of them actually enroll. This is across all disciplines. This has been the trend for past few years. I looked at Naviance. Only little over 100 students are accepted so far. I thinks big volume of acceptances is on the way. all! Please stay positive
I told my son that barring one school in his list, everything is a super reach. He agreed with me. So there is no stress :-). I am under some stress relative to him because I have a bit of hope. There is stress only if there is hope. He is very cool. I donāt show my stress to him.
Same kind of application/admissions stats at our in-state hs too. Itās crazy that weāre stressed about waiting with admissions like this, but I think part of it is not knowing how many of those applications are RDs still also waiting to hear down the road. I should have checked Naviance on Nov 5 to see how many EA apps were in then. Meanwhile, my D will wait patiently and hopefully know this week.
Keep in mind Naviance is only updated (as to applied, accepted, rejected, etc.) when/if the student actually bothers to log into Naviance and makes that edit. It isnāt automatic (it is linked to the Common App, at my kidās high school - but the C.App. doesnāt send info back to Naviance or update Naviance in any way.) I can imagine many kids donāt bother to update his/her status on Naviance.
