UMass Amherst Class Of 2026 EA

sure. congrats

They told us at the info session that they do not consider demonstrated interest. In fact, she pretty much said less is more, since they get so many apps. She acknowledged it is a thing at other colleges

The Common Data Set for Umass Amherst marks ā€œLevel of applicant’s interestā€ as ā€œconsidered.ā€ The other categories are ā€œvery important,ā€ ā€œimportant,ā€ and ā€œnot considered.ā€

sure.

The language in the link seems to imply they have no need to dip into the waitlist before May 15. So your conclusions are correct. They are encouraging students to join an admitted school by May 1.

Does that mean everyone that applied RD is waitlisted?

Not at all. How can that be? Unless you are in a very competitive major that is already filled up.

Most likely they have different buckets for EA and RD. They might have set aside some slots for RD even for competitive majors. Realistically the competitive majors are almost full in EA.

Got in for CS oos with 16k scholarship. 3.7 uw and 1490.

ā€œmore valuableā€ than what? This is a probationary acceptance that they are not letting you in to your desired program. IF you meet conditions…that they can change/add to…no promises of admit. don’t be fooled, ā€œexploratory trackā€ is marketing spin; fills a seat, but will not hold you one in the business school. TBH my kid is not in this boat; econ major. I wouldn’t do this if it was me.
My older D is there for ME, so we love the school, sad for others knowing how competitive some programs are now.

Again, more valuable than previous years because UMass eliminated internal transfers to Isenberg this year.

It used to be possible to apply to transfer to Isenberg regardless of your initial UMass major if you take 2-3 classes (econ, calc, and something else?) with good grades. It was competitive but still possible.

It looks like that ā€œIsenberg exploratory trackā€ students don’t have to go through a competitive application process. They will be in if they meet the academic requirement.

Also, anyone at UMass (including exploratory Isenberg and other non-business majors) can apply to join professional clubs at Isenberg as freshmen. For example, MEF and MFIF are great in preparing students for Wall Street internships and full-time jobs with excellent job placements.

OK, good luck, hope it works out.

My son was accepted for Nutrition last week.

Are you supposed to be able to log into spire without accepting admission? We can’t get it to work here!

Yes UMass only gives in-state merit to honors college students, and it’s about $2k to offset the cost differential in the honors dorm vs the regular dorms. Other than that all merit is awarded to OOS students.

Hi!! Does anyone know where to see if UMass has received the Fin Aid application? My spire account says received but it’s still in my to-do list so I’m a bit confused.

Is honor college hard to get in? What is the acceptance rate of UMASS? 50%

When is RD notification date? Early April?

I don’t think its updated yet - i had the same issue and called the FA depart said by march 1
