UMichigan Ann Arbor EA Class of 2021 Applicants

Or those they really want to let in. Summer and winter admits test scores and gpa are not included in fall stats I hear

so are those usually underrepresented minorities, athletes, legacy, etc. who umich wants but don’t have the highest test scores or gpa?

@JPGator98
Figured it out. When applying to the business program, first year (2017 Fall) will be under LSA then automatic transfer to Business school the following year (2018 Fall). Thus all business applicants should have these two entries.

Eeee127, not necessarily.

Anyone has a definitive answer of when the decisions come out?

@oldtown348 Not automatic business transfer…just so you know. There are requirements your freshman year.

@EdwardYYAN the only definitive answer has been from Admission Office themselves and they have stated it will be this week at some point. Anything other than that is pure speculation.

@Seacoast
I thought for this year’s new preferred business acceptance its an automatic transfer. What are the freshman requirements?

tomorrow starting at 3-4 pm according to someones sibling who works in admissions but the decisions are spread out from tuesday to saturday so not everyone will receive their decision tomorrow

Got deferred from Uchicago, now waiting for Umich for my last results of the year! Don’t fuss too much about the decisions they’ll be out in due time. theres nothing we can control so lets just enjoy this month of festivities!

@oldtown348 Students must first be admitted to UMich under another school. Ross is a 3 year business school. As a preferrred Ross student you get access to the classes earlier than if you were LSA or Engineering without preferred. Not saying you can’t transfer in but it’s harder. They are making it so hard this year with only 500 preferred business school invitations.
This comprises 80% of the Ross school so if you are at UMich and want to transfer into Ross you are in a large pool and only have those spots that are left over once the freshman all start.
It’s completely different with our class - meaning 2021.

Ross is a premier school and here are the requirements on their website:
Once you receive Preferred Admission, you must meet the following requirements during your freshman year at U-M:

Earn a cumulative GPA of 3.300 or higher by the end of your freshman winter term. GPAs are not rounded up.

Complete First-Year Writing, Economics 101, and any course in Calculus I, II, or III at U-M, each with a grade of C or better, by the end of your freshman winter term. AP credit for Calculus I or II (Math 120 or 121) will substitute for the required course in calculus. IB or A-level credit for Economics 101 and U-M Calculus I, II, or III will substitute for the required courses in economics and calculus.

Complete a minimum of 27 graded credits at University of Michigan-Ann Arbor, each with a grade of C or better, during your freshman fall and winter terms combined.

    AP, IB, A-level, and transfer credits do not count toward the 27 required credits.

    Preferred Admission students are expected to take classes on a graded basis (unless the class has a mandatory Credit/No Credit basis) to meet the 27-credit requirement.

    Courses in the Officer Education Program do not count toward the 27 required credits unless they are cross-listed in another U-M department.

    Courses in the School of Kinesiology that are listed as NFC under LSA policy do not count toward the 27 required credits. Please go to the Non-LSA School of Kinesiology credit listing for the complete list of approved credits.

    May Trip Courses offered through Ross Global Initiatives during the winter term do not count towards the 27 required credits.

    Students who receive only 2 credits in Math 105 after taking Math 103 are considered to have earned 4 credits in Math 105 for the sake of meeting our admission requirements.

As a Preferred Admission student, you are also expected to meet the following conditions of the program during your freshman year at U-M:
    Enroll in BA 100, Introduction to Ross: Foundations in Learning Business, offered specifically for Preferred Admission students. This 1.0 credit, biweekly course introduces students to the world of business while supporting their transition and building a collaborative learning community, providing students with a foundation to make the most of their time at the Ross School of Business and the University of Michigan.

    Enroll in and complete BCOM 250: Introduction to Business Communication (a 1.5-credit course) with a C or better during winter term of your freshman year.
    Meet with your Ross academic advisor regularly to assess your academic progress and ensure that you are taking advantage of appropriate resources, allowing for successful enrollment into the BBA Program your sophomore year.

I can answer any questions any incoming freshman have. I know a ton.

What type of student receives the Kessler Presidential Scholarship? Confused by the site

Can anyone make it clear if it’ll be next to impossible for class of 2021 to get into ross after our freshmen year at michigan?

@weehee2017 When there is a will there is a way…don’t be discouraged! :wink: :smiley:

I guess it would make sense then that I have the Summer 2017 in my Application Status because my test scores are extremely low and I suppose I am considered an “underrepresented minority” (Asian)

OOS and hoping (if I get in) to apply for the The Joseph M. Geisinger Scholarship Program. Do many students get this scholarship? Or is this just a shot in the dark? I’ll apply regardless, just curious

Asian is not an underrepresented minority, it is an overrepresented minority @khm1917
The state of Michigan is only 2.1% Asians but University of Michigan is 15% Asians

At UMich, Asians are not even close to be considered URM. I think it might be more of your test scores if anything. The state of Michigan has it illegal for colleges to uses race as an admissions tool.
