UMichigan Ann Arbor EA Class of 2021 Applicants

@BreadedPrincess Whatever major you chose for LSA on common app, Wolverine Access will show “undeclared”. That’s just the way the computer system works (it is stated somewhere on the website, I’ve seen it before.)

@imurray Same boat here! Hoping for it to be tomorrow so this anxiety can stop!

I am pretty sure that everyone is considered undecided up until they officially declare their major (generally in their sophomore year).

@Kristen117 @EdwardYYAN thanks so much! The portal is kinda messy on mobile, so its hard for me to figure out sometimes.

@petethegreek I also got deferred from UChicago. Hopefully we will both receive good news from U of M in the next couple of days!

just wondering for out of state people who applied to umich, are you all able to afford out of state costs? its so expensive for out of state and even in state tuition is relatively higher than other public schools. umich has a very high percentage of rich people because of all the out of state and international students. I’m kinda amazed by the number of out of state students who are willing to pay the full cost

@Eeeee127 My parents make 400K+ a year so yea we can afford it.

Nice^

Got deferred EA from UChicago today so I’m really banking on Michigan to make this week not so bad

I’m an international student, so I’ll have to pay full tuition no matter which school I end up going.

Realistically, what is the latest that i could get my decision.

@weehee2017 It might be a little more difficult as there will be less spots, but in that regard there will also be less people applying as more people got in through prefferred. Im certain if you have a strong gpa, good essays, and get involved in some legit ecs you will get in. So its ultimately dependent on how hard you work. Its not going to be random or up to lucky like ivy admissions but if you work for it you WILL get it

There’s a ton of rich students here, mostly OOS and international. It’s easy to tell. For example, it seems like every other person here has a canada goose jacket, which are upwards of $800 each.

@ArmyvsNavy1999 Apparently the latest you could get your decision is Dec 24. lol, Christmas Eve… :frowning:

I go to Michigan, and I think it’s absolutely ridiculous that they would send out decisions on December 24th. Horrible to anyone who gets deferred or rejected. Hopefully they won’t release as late as then.

On that note, please feel free to reach out to me for any affirmation or for any questions about my college process, or college selection process at all!

i heard that umich has a wide range of students- students who shouldn’t have gotten in to geniuses who should be at harvard or similar. also umich prob is the richest public university in the united states with 50% out of state students and the highest percentage of wealthy students in a public university

@guitar321 Mind sharing your high school credentials? ACT, SAT, GPA, if you applied EA, etc.

@AspiringScho1ar Cool! My parents, like many other parents, had to work for their lives because nothing was handed over and are willing to work some more so I can have a better life than them! @Eeeee127 I’d probably be paying the same amount as a private college (50k-60k) since I’m out of state.

no, don’t private colleges give better financial aid than public universities for out of state?

is this also gonna be the decisions thread?
