UMichigan Ann Arbor EA Class of 2021 Applicants

@yobub34 I think the concern with releasing the decisions all on the 24th is that the traffic to WA will crash the website.

@yobub34 Yes but if they RELEASE them all in one day, would that not cause the system to crash? That’s the whole reason they released them in batches I thought.

“I feel they should have made all decisions by now and should at least start releasing decisions they have already made instead of waiting until friday.”

You feel that, but that doesn’t make it reality. Deciding on tens of thousands of apps in 6-7 weeks is crazy at best. @Eeeee127 Think about it this way, if one person out of 20 doing this gets sick for a few days…chaos. It’s not at all the way you think it is. They are trying to make as many decisions as possible before releasing. They get to make the rules…at least it will be over this week.

Keep the faith.

EA deadline should be October 1

As @HRSMom @youbub34 and I have been trying to tell you, notifications will likely not be released until school is closed. Its a matter of self-protection and self-preservation on UM’s part. With the release of tens of thousands of decisions, there will be those who are deeply disappointed in the outcome. Admissions simply wants to shield themselves from the onslaught of calls and inquiries, requesting an explanation or more; of why an applicant may have been deferred or denied. If past history is any indication of future results, decisions will be released on Friday. You can torture yourselves by continually checking WA for a change in status, but it will likely not appear until 12/23.

Regarding crashing the website, I would hope that they know how to scale for the web traffic, given that they are a premier school. Releasing on the 24th would mean that there probably isn’t a lot of other traffic hitting the university website, but I guess we’ll see. If they send emails with an admissions decision (“Congratulations…”) that would reduce the traffic to the site.

@10isMOM Not sure about the self preservation. It’s really not that hard to release decisions and just not answer the phones for a couple days.

^walk ins!! They have their own plan guys. Just go with it.

So my close friends mom who works in admissions called to say they’re planning on releasing them today. But she could be confused with STAMPS

When?

@yobub34 You would think they would be able to handle the traffic, but they aren’t. Numerous people in this thread have said how WA is absoulutely horrible once decisions release based on years past, and this was when they did them in batches lol. If they wait until Friday (and not Saturday like you said, as they promised they’ll be out BY the 24th) to release all of them at once, it will be much worse.

Called around 6 when my friend asked her about LSA. She had heard it earlier in the office before she left for home.

Does WA close every single night? Like what’s the latest on any given day they would release decisions.

Earlier some people said 9 PM EST @goblue8721

The decision emails are automated guys. They can come at 2pm, midnight, or 4 am.

The portal is not open at 4am (or even at midnight I believe) so why would they automate emails for those times if we cannot login and see our decision right after receiving them? @achensj

Change of subject: anyone going anywhere for the holiday break?

So we can’t log in and crash the system @jt1216

Other schools send them at 4 am to help avoid everyone from flooding the system at once. A few I’ve applied to this year have been that way. Because hopefully you’re all not awake at 4 am.

the portal should be open every night except saturday for maintenance
