The absolute cheesiest book illustrations ever.

they were classic childrens books.
We had a situation with relatives where we finally told them to buy their kids a gift and say it was from us and we would do the same. Worked for us!

I’m sure I give gifts that were wrong for people. I imagine I’m not the only one. It’s my fault if I give a stupid gift, not the recipient’s fault. I also don’t believe the recipient is (or can) force themselves to LIKE a gift just because they received it.

It’s a cheap children’s book (or book set), so let it go. Especially because I assume you gave the books to the child to enjoy (which likely they did even if their parents did not). Otherwise you just end up being more petty and small than this relative you describe.

But I’ll admit that most of this sounds ridiculously subjectively described, that I think we are getting how you see it but not necessarily the actual facts, or how others would have seen it. How about you cut and paste what she wrote here? I have a feeling that we might get a different interpretation if we saw it. You already have a grudge from the last incident so I wonder what the reality is.

Frankly, it would seem the most healthy response would be to send her a private message saying you were hurt by what she wrote. Clear the air at least! Find out what on earth she was thinking and maybe reign her in a bit. Why add another secret ‘thing’ to your grudge list, when this is a relative you are stuck with the rest of your life in some fashion?

I would write “Thanks for the feedback. I’ll make sure to keep it in mind if I ever buy anyone in your family a gift again.”

also, if anyone is keeping track, put me in the “berenstain bears are awesome” side of the poll.
