my stats:
Applying into stats major 1st year
Applying from a 4-year university In State
College GPA: 3.956
HS WGPA: 4.45 , UWGPA: 3.8
3 great LORs, good position in one career club, exec board member in volunteering club
Expected student status upon enrollment: Junior (about 60 hours)

Was rejected last year after being waitlisted during undergrad admission cycle

Good luck guys!! Go tar heels!

Did you include your SAT/ACT scores? Do you have any APs? Just curious. I know a lot of schools are now Test Optional; so, I don’t know if it helps any more or not.

I included my sat score, they already had it on file from last year so I included it anyways. I had about 28 transferrable hours from AP, 19 from community college.

Anybody happen to know when would be a typical decision releasing date for UNC?

When I called in they told me anytime from April 11th to 15th

Hey guys, applying for a second time as a transfer after being rejected as a high school senior and waitlisted as a college freshman. Third times the charm?!

my stats:
Applying into biology major
Applying from a 4-year university In State (NCSU)
College GPA: 4.0
2 LOR
Expected student status upon enrollment: Junior
Extracurriculars: research assistant + a few summer jobs with some volunteering and some on campus clubs.

Hey! What were your stats last year when you applied and were waitlisted? I am also applying from ncsu but it’s my first time applying for transfer.

In high school Im pretty sure I had a 3.73 UW, and a 4.4 W. First semester of college I had a 3.92 or something like that. But honestly I think that my essays could have been a lot better.

My stats:
Applying as a sophomore transfer
Applying from a 4-year university in NC
Current College GPA: 3.85
DE College GPA: 3.875
HS WGPA/UWGPA: 4.40 & 3.89 (Waitlisted)
2 LOR, part of 3 clubs, an exec position in 1, occasionally work and volunteer at an animal shelter. Sibling currently attends, not sure if it’ll benefit much.
This round I felt a lot more confident about my essay and short answers (more passionate).

Anyone know if it is significantly tougher as OOS to transfer to UNC? I called and asked, but they said regarding Transfers, the admit rate is not a whole lot lower than it is for in-state. I’m not sure if that’s true or not. Also, my child didn’t apply for Freshmen year – only as a sophomore transfer.

As far as I have seen looking at older threads the oos and in state transfers tend to be the same because they don’t have to adhere to the government quotas or something.

And this second part it purely speculation, but I think it might be easier to transfer entering as a junior instead of a sophomore. But I don’t know for sure :man_shrugging:

@Zachd1 Thanks for that info. It does seem to match what I previously was told – at least the OOS vs. In-State.

I might be getting ahead of myself but the results of the previous year’s waitlist are out.

Then it would most likely be on the 12th from 3-4 PM… Good luck to those who have class at that time

I’m pretty sure they released Friday April 13th at 3:13pm est last year

So, three weeks from tomorrow.

For a few years before the last, the decisions came out a week before the week of the Friday closest to the 15th. So I guess its possible the decisions could be out as soon as April 5th. But I kinda doubt it because I don’t think they have ever released that early.

The RD for class of 28 was sent out a week early due to this week’s Friday being Good Friday… I would hope they release transfer decisions a week early but it feels unlikely
