Congrats!!! Was the letter from a specific department or from general admissions? What is you intended major? All these questions from an anxious mom. Wonderful news and congrats!
I wonder when they will release, they haven’t even said which date.
It was from general admissions. I still don’t know if I was directly admitted to business which is my major. If that does not happen, it is unlikely I attend because I guess it is super competitive to try and get in if not already admitted upon entering.
Congrats!!! Was the letter in a small letter envelope or a big folder-type envelope?
It was a bigger envelope because it had a few large flyers about housing and stuff in it with the letter.
Congratulations! And thank you for the details and taking the time to answer all of these questions.
We’ve discussed above that applicants who reach the semifinals of the Morehead-Cain process are not guaranteed admission to UNC. Some shared that most semifinalists get in but there have been a few known cases of semifinalists who were denied.
I’m wondering now about finalists. My son is a finalist (I understand around half of the finalists are awarded the M-C) and hasn’t yet heard back from his EA application (no likely letter and I think EA results are next Friday).
Wondering if anyone knows if finalists are always granted admission. It would be kind of funny/odd to actually get an offer to the M-C but be denied from UNC. Just curious what the folks on this forum know of. Thanks!
First, congrats to him, what an accomplishment! Second, he HAS to be, I don’t know how they could justify making him a finalist yet not accepting him, that doesn’t make any sense. Exciting.
are we expecting to hear back around this time next week?
Yes, I expect It will be in the 6-7pm est range based on last year, but it could change.
Last year we found out around 4:00 on 1/27.
Which time zone?
Morehead-Cain is a separate institution from UNC, so while it’s unlikely that your son would get denied as a finalist, it’s certainly possible. My cousin was a semifinalist and got strait up denied OOS. I unfortunately didn’t make it past the first round but am still hopeful. You never know what UNC wants in an applicant, whether it be if they’re a good fit, declared for a certain major, etc. Good luck to your son!
Does anyone have any portal astrology with UNC???
Ok thanks. I guess I’ll just be patient then. Will know for sure next week!
It’s possible since they’re separate, be prepared, but I’d be surprised if that happens.
has anyone else received a likely letter? if not is it too late to receive one?
Has anybody else received a likely letter today? It should be in a large envelope.
I don’t get the point of likely letters this close to EA results? Unless the applicant applied RD (edited).
There is no ED to chapel , and we did not get any likely letter we are in state.
