Yup, 8% last year and applicants were up by a lot this year, so I think 5-6% is a reasonable estimate for oos. I don’t think in state applicants were driving the huge rise in applicants, and if they were, they likely aren’t super competitive applicants because those kids were already applying!
Yes. It’s one of the reasons S24 doesn’t have great hopes for this one - we are OOS and there are so many applying. He has great stats (3.98UW/1580 SAT) but since he hasn’t found a cure for cancer in his spare time . . .

Have you looked at Cialfo of your S24’s school? We are also OOS and similar stats - 4.0UW/35ACT. But based on past history from S24’s school, looks like last year’s acceptance rate was 30%.
Anyone brave enough to try and set up their ONYEN yet? I saw last year folks were doing that early. I’m not very tech-savvy and am afraid of screwing something up with my D’s account. I was able to locate a PID for her googling unc PID but that’s as far as I got. Keep us posted if anyone tries and gets the option to set up an account. Good luck to everyone!!

What do you do for state?
Go over there to that fourm and I posted detailed directions. It’s a complicated process and takes a while just fyi

We have SCOIR. Only a handful of kids have ever gotten in (and only 10-12 year apply) so it is hard to compare because most of the kids who have applied there have had high gpa’s but middling SAT scores. No one with combined stats as high as my son’s has ever applied to UNC (most of his peers look at Michigan or the UCs as their OOS public flagships). Do I think he has a better than average chance - yes - but with admissions rates so tiny that isn’t saying much.
