Has any Carolina EA applicant on this thread received email invitation(s) to virtual info sessions for programs like Euro-Tam, Global Launch or Russian Flagship?
We are in-state. My D told me that her guidance counselor mentioned today that there was a 13% increase in early applications this year. Yikes! Not completely sure if this information is correct and if that is the overall applicant pool or the in-state applicant pool only that increased but thought I would share. Good luck to everyone.
That information is from an email UNC sent to guidance counselors yesterdayā¦. They said they had 43,879 EA applications. Edited: the email didnāt give an in-state/OOS breakdown, just the raw number.
We received the letter also. We are from New Jersey. Is it a good sign?
Not based on the wording of the letter. I doubt itās a bad sign, itās probably not a sign at all other than saying we got your app, weāre reviewing it and please dont ask us when a decision is coming out.
I would be more concerned if we didnāt receive a letter or email. That would mean your application was incomplete
My son learned yesterday that heās a semi-finalist for the Morehead-Cain scholarship (heās v excited about this!). He also separately applied EA to UNC.
I know there is a firewall between the M-C and UNC admissions offices, and so wondering if anyone has known someone to get this far in the M-C process and then be denied by UNC?
Yes. My friendās daughter (OOS).
Bummer!

I keep thinking she will be accepted, but then I hear crazy stories or kids not getting in that are great students. Good luck to all!
What county? (I still think sheās a )
Durham
⦠Anecdotally, the 3 kids I know of who had over a 4.3 in the top 10% of their classes in Wake County high schools were all accepted.
My son applied early action. When should we complete the CSS profile for need-based aid at UNC? Should we wait to receive the admissions decision or submit it now in the event he is admitted?
Anecdotally: Semifinalists oos from our school and another private school in the area are always accepted for the years that I know.
Thanks! We know a valedictorian from East Ch Hill (they have a ton) who was not admitted but was told he could automatically transfer year 2. That scares me.
I had heard if one becomes a semi-finalist it also means they are admitted.
For anyone that enjoys specific data points/stats, Iām attaching the updated NC insight workbook. It works best on a computer and allows you to see data from all of the colleges in the NC system. You can choose to view specific information for UNC. They just added info for the fall 2023 class, last yearās admission cycle. You can view every single NC high schoolās applied/accepted numbers for each institution going back several years. You have to play around with tabs at the top to choose what youād like to view(test scores, apply/admit, etc) and then alter data points on the left-hand side to get more specific(institution, is/oos, school district, high school, etc). Iāve provided a link. If you enjoy stats and data, itās interesting to check out while our kiddos wait patiently for another 7 weeks. Thought I would share. Good luck!!

In the past it separated OOS and OOS legacy, I couldnāt find that in the link. Maybe that is no longer considered. Iāll wait for our magazine in the mail
