UNC Chapel Hill Early Action for Fall 2024 Admissions

Not sure, but the kids we know do tend to gravitate toward Greek life. That may just be my children’s peer group.

Yes - Granville tends to attract more Greek kids

So where do the studious wake up super early and prefer quiet go (18 going on 80), north?

This would my child. She’s looking at Stacy and that area.

ETA - I’m concerned about library hours being shortened during Covid and still not back to normal, if that tells you where we are in this process.

Tells me you’re further along than me in your research haha! Wish we were same gender and we might have found an ideal roommate match.

Agreed. Mine has already done two of those tours, so I would love a different type of event. Or maybe she woudl just go to the panel and leave. We also live quite close, so we may just wander campus on a saturday.

Anyone’s child a cheerleader and thinking about trying out? We don’t know a whole lot about UNC Cheer other than what is posted on the site, if any info would be appreciated!

Stacy is co-ed – in the Olde Campus Lower Quad Community. My 18 going on 80 likes the proximity to the quad’s laundry room and Davis Library. I lived in Morrison and Carmichael back in my Tar Heel days.

I think the ‘wander around’ tour is likely to be our plan too. We’re going to the Notre Dame mens’ basketball game in March. I’m thinking getting there after lunch for a DIY tour would be good. Our other tour was during the summer and lackluster. No college kids, a bunch of camps, and pouring rain. We had the panel and the info session type format, so I think she needs to see and feel campus in action.

best doubles dorms at unc??? might get a single too so please do tell.

This is a huge frustration of my 2nd year.

@isitmayyet my 2nd year has been on north campus for 2 years now and it’s really nice and quiet - never once complained about noise.

Sounds like you toured UNC the day we toured Elon. :joy: Our first tour was also lackluster. Our guide was an international student who lived with other international students and was taking a crazy difficult course load. She was fairly negative and didn’t represent the school very well, nor did she have a relatable experience. Kid went again alone during spring break and said the tour was much better, but I wish I’d been on a good tour. In contrast, our NC State tour guides were awesome and made the school sound so great. Maybe I should go back and take my own tour of UNC! LOL

It’s frustrating when you know a tour isn’t doing a school justice. DIY tour of UNC should be something I can handle after going to school there 4 years – nevermind that I stayed in Carmichael Hall the year it opened lol – 3 decades+ ago. lol It’s funny how much (yet how little) seems to have changed. Good to know the NCSU tours are good. We are touring there in 2 weeks. The Duke tour had her head over heels but we don’t get those results until the end of March. That one’s a longshot but she will want to know the results before committing. I had no idea how long and roller-coastery this process would be.

The vast majority of dorm rooms at UNC are double. Here’s a room finder that sorts by various room features. This is the general housing site for first years.

This chart below sums up North vs. South Campus for first years very well.

Yeah, we live a few blocks from Duke’s campus and mine has spent a good deal of time there causally and in camps. It’s a gorgeous campus. Good luck!

I used to sneak over to Duke Chapel about once a month when I was a Tar Heel.

Duke Gardens is one of our favorite places, and during the pandemic we hung out on campus a lot.

If we don’t see any merit scholarship offered with the acceptance, does it mean that we won’t get any later on either? We’re OOS.

I think that is correct. You clicked the special opportunities area? UNC gives out very very few merit awards.
