I don’t think they can view private social media pages. Before he sent out any applications, S24 and I went through all of his social media to make sure it was all private. They can probably still see profile pictures though, so it’s probably a good idea to make sure those don’t put the student in a negative light.

On pins and needles over here waiting for EA decision release. The website states that the date is 1/31 but I’ve heard that historically they tend to announce the Friday before (which would be 1/26). Has anybody heard this also? Any news on this front? This is very high on the list for my kid. We are in state.
I would think that’s a good sign? Neither my spouse nor I have LinkedIn profiles so no clues there. Good luck!

1/26 seems likely and they will probably announce this coming week. 1/26 is the same day as G tech for me. Two rejections in one day probably lol.

Hmm, looked at FB and some friends did indeed post acceptances on Friday, 1/27 last year. This is exciting, didn’t know it could come sooner.

UNCW posted this past Friday, a few days earlier than expected, so I would assume NC State and UNC will post the Friday before their set date. Of course, that is also the day before the big semi formal at my kid’s school…that should make for fun conversation. Also glad it will hopefully come on a Friday afternoon after kids are out. I think last year it posted right when school let out and it was DRAMA. (We’re in a nearby town, so UNC is HOT.)
I hope for everyone’s sake it is in the evening. Same here, lots of kids will be waiting for this decision and some will get in and some won’t. They should be able to be at home for something this big.

Do they normally announce ahead of time what the decision date will be?
Not sure. UNCW didn’t this past weekend. And yes, I hope they wait too. School gets out for us at 4:15, so last year kids were checking emails at the end of the day. Truly awful. It’s bad enough to see all your friends posting acceptances on Insta, but to have it going on in class?
I saw on a different board that Jan. 26 at 4 pm is the speculated date/time. I don’t know what that’s based on – except maybe last year’s info. It really is rough to get that sort of news around peers. Whether it’s good or bad, sharing news and reacting to news isn’t always easy immediately.
I’m likely to suggest my daughter use the strategy we have used successfully with audition results for years. Tell anyone who asks: I’m waiting until I get home to look so she’s not on the spot. UNC is my alma mater, so I think I’m just as nervous as she is. She can easily tell people she wants to be with me to open results.
Even still … opening and sharing that news during class? Yikes.

My last two kiddos D23, S22 - it was around 4pm (they were not home) and it was either the last Thursday or Friday in January AND NC State was literally around the same time.

I think morning before school would be even better. Then you don’t have to think about it all day and can focus.
That would either be a great day or a terrible day for students depending on the news they got. Seems like it’d be better delivered in the evening for that reason.

Our experience over the past few years has been that decisions come out at around 4 PM on a Thursday or Friday. We have laughed that they do that so they aren’t flooded with phone calls all day! People have to wait through the weekend before they start calling.

I just recived a likely letter from UNC. I am SHOCKED because I was not expecting to get in!! Definently a top choice
