Thanks. My son was waitlisted with a 3.9 college GPA in computer science (heā€™s a freshman) and HS of 3.8 at a college prep school. Lower ACT though as he doesnā€™t test as well as he does in class. He was denied at UNC as a HS applicant, so heā€™s closer ! Good luck to all - enjoy your college years and no matter where you are, itā€™s mostly what you make of it, so stay positive and put 100% effort in to wherever you are. Take it from an old man - life comes at you fast. Enjoy EVERY day.

Thank you! I was also rejected as a hs applicant, so I know how it is haha. But if he really wants to go to UNC I would encourage applying next year since Junior applicants have a better shot! Especially if his college gpa stays consistent.

I want to share my stats so people next year can get a reference.
I am 18, Male, Hispanic, and Undocumented (I have also lived in NC since I was 4) (Waiting for DACA)
Highschool: Weighted: 4.2-4.3 Unweighted: 3.6-3.8 (Donā€™t remember exactly) AP Classes- took 8, passed 6 All core classes and none were elective. Class Rank- top 20% I was in a two year college readiness program called Lyceum I was in national Honors Society Sat-1260 Act-24 (I donā€™t think Iā€™m submitting it since if you have over 60 credits in Nc youā€™re not required to)
Community College GPA: 4.0 Credits completed in the institution at the end of this semester: 37 Credits from ap: 27 Will get my associates in science after one year in community college with 63 credits Made the deanā€™s lists Iā€™m in a honors Society (phi theta Kappa)
EC: ā€œinternedā€ for my dads construction business for 3 years, 100+ volunteer hours, JV soccer, worked in a haunted house, worked along side a non-profit to create a program with my family to deliver clothes to Honduras after a hurricane, Math Club and Art Club member in HS. (Most of my ECā€™s were from Highschool however that was less than a year ago and due to covid I couldnā€™t do much)
Essay: Wrote about being undocumented and how that has affected me.

Gonna miss this thread a bit haha. It was really nice being able to collectively panic with yā€™all during this process!

Anyone else planning to commit to UNC, would yā€™all be interested in a group chat of some sort? I think itā€™ll be nice having people to talk to who are on the same boat of transferring to UNC and having to adjust next semester. I would also love to make some new friends for Chapel Hill!

Applied to enroll junior year.
Highschool GPA: 3.3 uW
College GPA: 3.88 at T100 four year university
SAT: 1420
No hooks
Essays were fine nothing special
Very Weak ECā€™s more like just my personal interests while under lockdown plus some stuff from the end of highschool
