The big green envelope came today! She is in!! It is great to have an early answer from one she “REALLY likes” (her words). Now to keep fingers crossed for honors and/or a scholarship.
Congratulations! I know several kids that go there and love it!
Congratulations @Cheeringsection !
when did the application go in? Thanks and congrats!
I don’t recall the exact date but I know it was not too long before 11/1.
Okay thanks for the info! My son got his in ON Nov 1. We are out of state. Wondering too if they hold onto those decisions longer than in-state. Fingers crossed!
@Cheeringsection congrats! My son’s portal says decision made so I guess we are watching the mail. He submitted 10.31. He did get an email about applying to the Business School HC so I assume he is getting in.
Congratulations! Can I ask when the application was submitted?
@ITBgirl , can you shed some light on the business school process? My son listed undecided on his app submitted 11-1. But the more we talk, the more he is thinking he wants to have a business major. Do you have to list one of the business majors in order to be contacted about the Business school? We can’t seem to find any sort of application for that. Or can you get accepted and then apply? And if you don’t know for sure about your major, it is better to list it anyway? Don’t want it to hurt his chances of getting in overall if he doesn’t get into business school. Thanks for any info!
@lccakes I am afraid I don’t have much info. My son isn’t positive about what he wants to major in either but he did list Business on his application, and we went to a meeting at the Business School when we were at the Open House, I think he filled out some paperwork then too. I will PM you with some contact info he received if you would like.
@ITBgirl thanks!
OK, this waiting game is painful. My daughter applied 10/30/2019. She applied to UNCG at the same time and heard back within 2 weeks. UNCC is her #1, but still nothing. We just got an email yesterday that they received official test scores. But she received that same email several weeks ago as well. She took the SAT twice, maybe the score came in separately? The wait is about to push us all over the edge. Her grades have been consistently A/B until last year when she suffered a major concussion and has had some struggles since. And of course now she has Senioritis! She is #58 in a class of 300+, with a 4.2 weighted GPA, but 3.57 unweighted. Her SAT scores were low. She doesn’t test well and she was not long post concussion when she took them. 1070, 1040. Any words of wisdom? Encouragement? Suggestions? The struggle is REAL!!!
While I am not on the admissions board at UNCC I’d be stunned if your daughter did not get in. Yes her scores are a little lower than average but her GPA and class rank are right there for Charlotte and I don’t think her scores are low enough to keep her out. Both of mine got into Charlotte and the older one who got in 2 years ago had SAT scores like your daughter. Again, no one can say for sure but I think she has a great chance of getting in. I understand senioritis. My son is waiting to hear if he got into NC State which doesn’t come out til end of January and I have to keep reminiding him they require a midyear school report with first semester grades so he still needs those As! Good luck!!
My son applied Oct 31 and nothing yet either. Was wondering if it is because he is out of state but who knows. I have seen some in-state people getting in on a couple of private forums/facebook groups. There was something new in his portal the other day about an invite to an Open House on April 4. I checked to see if that was the same day as one of the Admitted Students days just in case but it was not. Just keep waiting I guess! Good luck!
My daughter applied to UNCC on 9/10/19 received an email on 10/17 that they received her test scores and still no decision. Like your daughter mine does not test well either. She has a 3.97 GPA and is all honors classes. Her SAT is a 1090. We just sit and wait but we are waiting for App and UNC Wilmington as well.
@ljasnau my son was thinking of applying out of state to App…is it known to be easier or harder to get into than UNCC? I know he would prefer UNCC but he is getting worried enough that he might toss a few more applications in elsewhere.
@ljasnau , the UNC system has a site that crunches all these numbers. Based on the info there, the averages for OOS accepted students in 2018 was …
ASU: Avg SAT of 1221, Avg GPA of 3.89
UNCCharlotte: Avg SAT of 1155, Avg GPA of 3.68
we’ll just keep on waiting:) We are also instate (Winston area) so App and UNCC are my top 2 just for distance
My son’s portal did say “decision made” before the letter arrived, so keep checking!
We are in Raleigh, so I would love to see him at NCSU but I don’t think mine wants to stay in town.
