I checked the mycarolina portal today out of curiosity (expecting decisions to come out next week), and there was a status update. I got in! I was expecting a rejection because UNC’s so competitive OOS but I guess the odds were in my favor this time :). Not sure if it’s available for everyone else but I would check just in case. Good luck to everyone!
My son is accepted!!! In state - Wake County. Proud mom!
My daughter has been accepted - OOS.
Does UNC give any scholarships?
very few and far between
Accepted OOS!
Congrats to all accepted my daughter is a sophomore and loves UNC!
Seriously congrats to those who were admitted - I was UNC '89 (OOS) and it was a wonderful experience. My S is disappointed but knew his GPA in particular would likely present a stumbling block (4.02 weighted) along with being from Mecklenburg County. Anyway for comparison -

Waitlisted international…
D20 is in! In state, not rural and really wasn’t expecting it. Don’t have permission to share stats yet but will once all her schools are in! Congrats all!
OOS accepted!!
Rejected in-state.
34 ACT, unweighted 3.65 GPA (HS does not do weighted GPA, but he took higher level and AP classes).
Mecklenburg County, but OOS super competitive HS. White male, Boy Scout (not eagle), two varsity sports, captain for one, probably an excellent recommendation from his HS Mandarin teacher. Nice kid, never in any trouble.
I’m upset and angry because the same thing happened to his brother (35 ACT and 770/800/800 on subject SATs) last year.
My older son had around a 3.25 GPA and he didn’t apply EA, so it was easy to see where he could have done better. But now that I have two data points, I’m suspicious that they were not assessed fairly because they went to HS OOS.
Daughter just sent me a text from Texas (competing this weekend) saying she got in!
