Surprised I didn’t get rejected tbh

OOS son rejected 34 ACT, 4.0 UW GPA, Lots AP’s, Varsity athlete etc. These kids just can’t win nowadays especially if you are a white male!

accepted!! super happy but even if you didn’t get in, we should all be happy that this long process is over and we can get on with our lives

OOS DD in!!! so stinking happy!!!

Accepted! Just a reminder that whether a school accepts you or not doesn’t change who you are and I am sure that all UNC applicants will do well wherever they end up:)

For future applicants looking back:
I am a white female, make yourself look unique and interesting!

ACT- 34
GPA- 4.5, 4.0 unweighted
Rank- 10/206
AP scores- 3,4,5 (taking 5 total out of 8 at my school)
ECs- 3 varsity sports, STUCO Body Vice President (officer for 4 years), NHS, Beta, National Spanish Honor Society Communications Officer
Awards- John H. Crowder Service Award, Excellence in Math Award, Junior Marshal, A Honor Roll

My son was rejected, as expected despite having great stats and already having an acceptance at a top 15 school. UNC is very hard for OOS.

FWIW, we know of an OOS girl who was rejected and then went to a small private college as a freshman (and did very well) and reapplied as a transfer and got in as a sophomore. She still graduated on time. She re-applied after her first semester freshman year. If UNC is your top choice, you still might be able to get in that way.

I am not sure she ended up loving being a transfer student though…not sure it’s the same. But from what I have seen and heard, if you are OOS, transferring in is MUCH easier. My son will not be reapplying. We were just curious if he would get in. His sister got in a few years ago but she was valedictorian. The same year, the salutatorian did NOT get in (and he is at a fabulous school now). So we knew it was a long shot.

Congrats to those of you that got in and good luck to everyone!

I think decisions may be out. My daughter’s portal has this message:

Lots of Wake County folks here. I have twins who both applied and are both working Until 9 pm tonight. Its going to be a long wait for them to get home!

@croaswife good luck! We are in wake county and my twins got accepted today! They are super excited!

REJECTED

1500 / 4.3 GPA

Not surprised, my school has never sent someone there.

Literally laughed out loud.

Were all rejections offered spots on waitlist and Carolina Global Launch opportunity? Because my letter led with them being unable to offer me admission at the time, and it was only at the end of the letter that they mentioned being placed on the waitlist.
