They sent that email to people (friends of mine) who haven’t even applied to UNC, so I wouldn’t read anything into it either.
My son is OOS as well and we have already heard from two other colleges. I agree it would be great to hear from UNC earlier rather than later.
Does anyone also get the “senson’s greetings” email? i am not sure if it’s generic
Got holiday email
@luciddream20 My D20 received it as well. A kind but generic email (mostly to let everyone know admissions will be closed for a bit IMO). Wouldn’t read anything into it.
I know this is an odd question, but on the Application Checklist on your portal, does everyone have all green check marks?
@beach1234 My D20 has a list of all green check marks followed by the word ‘Recieved’ after each of them.
@MBNC1755 thanks
Is there a specific reason why both UNC and NC State both make applicants wait so long? Most other colleges release decisions in December, right?
@IRunOnEspresso UVA EA decisions aren’t announced until 2/15. So UNC and NCSU aren’t the only ones.
Do you think it means anything if you applied and did not get a holiday greetings? my son got greetings from pretty much all schools he was accepted to or applied to except NC State and UNC.
@Henry111 I wouldn’t read anything into any mass emails. Only a few more weeks to wait.
Any bets on the 24th vs the 31st? I’m betting the 31st based on past years always being the last Friday in January … still it would be a treat to know on the 24th…
Hoping for the 24th too.
31st at 4 pm is my best guess.
Is it possible that the releases were the 4th Friday of the month, and not simply the last Friday. Therefore, making the 24th more likely?
@acke0815 I like your way of thinking. Hope that turns out to be the case.
Based on previous years with 5 Fridays, I’m going to guess that they may come Thursday, January 30th. I went back for the last 9 years, of which only 3 had 5 Fridays. For those three years, they came out Thursday 1/30, Wednesday 1/28 and Thursday 1/28. Still…that’s better than Friday!
I know it feels like it’s taking forever, but it’s better that they take their time and do it right the first time, rather than defer a bunch of students without having really given them a fair look. I think that happens at some other big state schools with tons of applicants. So while we still have to wait, I think they are doing their best to give everyone a solid read.
@collegemomjam UNC does not defer for early action. It is admit, deny or waitlist.
