@SKOVIKES how did your friend find out about honors Carolina?
Personal email my guess is they haven’t sent all out, but that may just be wishful thinking.
Son got into the Honors program (which is roughly 10% of the incoming class according to the Daily Tar Heel). He was notified by an email to his personal account.
first off congrats!! I’m a little confused here…how did you make your connect carolina account?? when i log into mine it doesnt really show anything
Congratulations! Do you know around what time your son got the email?
Honors Carolina email was to email used for Common App and went to junk folder. So, look there too.
Has everyone only heard back about Honors? Any word on assured acceptance programs or study abroad fellowship?
Gotta be honest but surprised zero academic merit. Accepted to Harvard early action, 1550+sat National AP scholar, varsity athlete letter winner. Zero merit, zero aid…I guess we will be mailing care packages to Cambridge not Chapel Hill in the fall… dissapointed, really liked the school and community.
@UNCclassof2024 His email (forwarded to me) has a timestamp of 4:58pm.
@PAdude Insofar as I know, my OOS kid with similar stats, didn’t receive any merit aid either. Congrats to all that did.
@ridingthewave thanks for sharing that info! I hope you get something. Having an HYP acceptance makes attending UNC at full cost unlikely. He only applied due to fact they offer non need based merit. …of concern to me is that on Saturday (the day after acceptance) he received an email from financial aid the asked if his FAFSA was correct because it seemed to them the parental income was " unusually high" and that he should notify them of it was a mistake. I am just concerned that non need based merit is in fact influenced to a degree by financials. I just find the questioning financial aid email a bit unusual.
Similar stats. Same ridiculous email. 0 merit. Congrats on Harvard!
Ditto on the email. It was my understanding that you had to do the FAFSA and CSS to be considered for merit and then they LOL in your face because you filled out the FAFSA for need based aid. We always knew we didn’t qualify for need, but definitely would have liked some merit.
Daughter received invitation to Honors Carolina. Email came just before 5pm EST.
DD (in-state) got the “Congratulations: You have been selected to join Honros Carolina” just before 5pm today. Not much details in the email other than “Formal invitation will arrive soon, in the meantime check out website”

My portal did this for a few days, and it switched over to my school email instead of the email that I used for Common App and college stuff in general. Give it a few tries/days and it will get back to normal.
