@dancerleah thank you, and by school email do you mean your UNC issued email?
Did anybody receive the scholarship for Carolina scholars? Thanks!
Did they send Carolina scholars with the honor college announcement email or a separate email? Thanks!
@padude and @maril555 It might be worth a call/email to the financial aid office, if they have emailed you with a question. I have another son at UNC and last year our aid was messed up simply because FASFA showed 401K savings as income simply because my husband changed jobs that year. ( We had linked the FASFA to our tax info and somehow it was reported incorrectly). Our son, a junior, never forwarded the financial aid office emails to us in which they questioned the amount. All in all, it took a while to straighten out and we didn’t get as much aid as previous years.
@sffl005 Your comment about the FASFA and 401K savings is interesting as I also linked our tax information directly to the IRS. I am not sure I quite understand the correlation but I will give them a call.
So I did as suggested here and set up sons connectcatolina. I recommend that you wait. I have no idea if that caused it but after I did that his email for MyCarolina no longer worked using his the school email address that he used for the common app - but we discovered it did work with the same password with his personal email. I became concerned that following advice on this site to set up connectcarolina before acceptance may have caused the issue and I was referred by admission to IT. They said it should not. Oddly I asked the IT guy which email address that system showed and it was the school one used with the common app. I then called admissions back, as we have heard nothing and assume he isn’t getting honors, and asked for confirmation one way or the other on honors. The woman stated that honors decisions will continue to come out until end of business Friday this week. I asked if they would inform us if our student was denied honors and she said no. Not sure what’s up with the emails changing. Thought this info might be useful.
I was accepted OOS with a full-ride scholarship and an invitation for Honors Carolina. So thankful for this opportunity - I’m excited to be a Tar Heel!
@saguarosun congrats! did you get your scholarship today or yesterday? and did you hear by email?
Received email for assured enrollment into Kenan-Flagler roughly 15 minutes ago
@mrachd Congratulations!! Thanks for posting. Was hoping for that for my son, but no email, so it doesn’t look like it’s going to work out for him.
Was just notified of an assured enrollment to the Media and Journalism major. Not exactly sure how selective this is. Does anyone know what percent of people receive assured admission?
I received a merit scholarship and an Honors Carolina acceptance! I’m pretty excited because I knew I wasn’t getting any need-based aid.
@musicer16 Congratulations! Can you share the name of the scholarship? Thanks!
Where are the scholarships located in the portal? I only see the letter of admission. Several other emails for different programs like honors and a scholarship, but then nothing on the portal. Thanks
@MTstepmom -This just happened to my son as well, and when he tries to recover his password, it says it can’t find that email with that date of birth…ughhh
Does he have a second email address? For whatever reason my son’s was switched to his other email and he was able to get in with that. Very strange.
@MTstepmom -No luck on that. Guess we will have to call tomorrow. Where you able to get anyone on the phone to help, just wondering who to call?
So admissions receptionist transferred me to IT. Not sure for this issue since we figured out a way in. But it’s worth a shot.
For future applicants.

@GarrettByrne congrats! I have no idea how selective it is. For those that did not receive assured admittance it looks like there is no reason to lose hope.
