UNC Student Body President Murdered

I don’t think 2 door coupes have luggage racks on the roof. Again- the picture seems concave, so the perspective is off. If you can “see” (think vista shot, sorta “bowed”) the roofline as straight, going back, you’ll see the suv-looking perspective. I don’t think they would have released info that he was driving her car in this picture if they were not absolutely sure.

Agree that it could be the Highlander. Looks like a roof rack in the photo?

sorry, cross posted with jym

Interesting…that looks like a 1960s era Houston Astros cap, or replica.

God, why would he kill this wonderful girl for a little money? This animal needs to be found.

Such a horrible, senseless tragedy. Makes me angry as well as sad. Such a stupid sequence of events, esp if this is really the suspect using an ATM card in front of a camera. If this is him, its a good shot, and he can be readily identified.

This whole random act of violence reminds me of the senseless nurder of Michael Jordon’s dad. I just don’t understand the taking of a life over a car, some cash, an ATM card and some credit cards. It is just not rational.

There is a virtual memorial page where one can leave virtual flowers and comments at:

This is just sick. Fred Phelps is going stage protests at both Eve Carson’s and Lauren Burk’s funerals. My d is so upset and angered by this, as am I.

I’d link their site with the picket schedule, but I am so disgusted I can’t make myself do it.

Idmom06 - if the cemetery is privately owned the family can request that only designated individuals be admitted to cemetery grounds for the service. Most cemeteries are gated and the gates can be closed and opened only to admit those authorized to attend the service.

Cemeteries often ask visitors if they are related to anyone buried in the cemetery. If they are not related they are asked to leave. This practice is well known among “gravers” who like to visit cemeteries to take photos of unusual monuments or find graves of famous individuals. These cemeteries state they are protecting the privacy of those buried on its grounds as well as their family members.

Apparently they are picketing the church/temple westcoastmom. How horrible. Actually I believe both services may be over. I hope somehow the parents and family were shielded from these disgusting people.

Lauren’s funeral was at the synagogue, Westcoastmom, and the sidewalk that runs along the street just on the edge of the property is, in one area, quite close to the main sanctuary. I’d bet they could have protested along the sidewalk just off the synagogue property. Absolutely disgusting. (Lauren’s family was an interfaith family, and apparently that seems to be the source of this lunatic’s protest).

After the funeral, there would then be a procession to the cemetary. Regardless of which cemetary was chosen, it would be a long drive. I did not go to the funeral, as I did not know the family. However, I was very mindful of the time and my route as I ran errands this afternoon, remembering what a traffic nightmare we caused during the procession to the cemetary after the funeral of that young HS senior last fall. I was at my last stop, a drugstore by my house, picking up 12-packs of soda. I kept looking out the window as the young kid was ringing up the soda. He asked me what I was looking at, and I mentioned that I was aware that the funeral was probably ending and I was not sure which way the procession would be going, and hoped to be out before I got caught in it. He asked whose funeral I was talking about. When I mentioned whose it was, he looked very sad. He said he had gone to the memorial service at the nearby Babtist church last night, but didn’t realize the funeral was going on as we spoke. Apparently Lauren was his best friend’s sister! It was just sooo sad. I cannot fathom anyone being so insensitive as to protest this tragic event. Just unbelievable.

That is horrifying - I did not realize they would picket the service. Definitely something off with those folks.

I am glad I didn’t go to the funeral. If I had seen those jerks protesting, I would have wanted to throw something at them!

Here is how the funeral was handled today- The Patriot riders formed a barrier of flags to shield the attendees and family from the Phelps “ugs” (uninvited guests).
Maybe I’m really dense, but these people picketed a murdered child’s funeral because one parent was Jewish and one Baptist? Think I’ll be making a donation to the Patriot Riders also.

mkm - It’s not even that simple…they have some distorted twisted statement about God hating American colleges at their website. I can’t even wrap my mind around their message. All I know is this group does not practice Christianity and are a scourge to us all.

God Bless the Patriot Riders.
