I’ll take the blame for that since I got the ball rolling, but I know damn well all of you would have done the same lol
What’s up my East Coast Fam. I’m all the way in California and was wondering, do any of you know when admission decisions are to be expected? Thanks !
@WyattCross next Friday, or the Friday after that.
You will receive an email titled “Important Update from Carolina”. The day after you get that email, decisions will be released in the afternoon around 3 pm Eastern time. I got my decision almost at 3 PM on the dot but of course the time can vary. Last year it was Friday, April 6th. It’s very possible that decisions could be released Friday, April 5th this year but the key indicator is that email. @WyattCross
@reidtw Ahh thats so soon ! I’m pumped now haha. Thanks for the response. Good luck to everybody !!!
@HSstudentNC I’m excited ! Most schools in California don’t give out a decision until late May. I was expecting the same for East Coast Schools.
@HSstudentNC I wanted to ask you, what did you do with that box they give you for activities in the application? Did you further explain your activities or put more down? Thanks!
I basically just further explained the activities I had previously listed. I wanted to provide some background info as to why I did the activities and some cool experiences that I had with them. @transferluk
That’s kind of what I did too! That’s good to know because their paragraphs on top of the box were confusing to me. Thanks @HSstudentNC
Possibly happening today: an email from admissions on how to retrieve your decision when it happens.
RDs received an email the Monday before their Friday decisions saying the following:
"Thank you again for applying for admission to the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. We remain grateful for your interest and have enjoyed getting to know you as we reviewed your application.
When your decision becomes available, you may view it by logging into MyCarolina. Once we’ve posted an update, you will see a Status Update section. Select “Click here to view your application update.” We recommend that you test your login now to be sure you can access MyCarolina.
If you have any questions, please email us or call us. Again, we are grateful for your ongoing interest in Carolina, and we wish you all the best."
@Mcunn226 I wish it was our decisions instead. ? I’m so nervous.
This is an excerpt from that email I got from admissions the day before my decision last year.
“Thank you again for applying for admission to the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. We remain grateful for your interest and have enjoyed getting to know you as we reviewed your application.
Although we don’t know exactly when we’ll be able to release all transfer decisions, we know that we won’t be able to release them today. When your decision becomes available, you may view it in your ConnectCarolina Student Center by following the instructions below.”
And then it just lists how to log on to ConnectCarolina or make a Guest ID
I’ve been checking my MyCarolina like every day hoping something has changed!
Hey guys, I saw some comments about people not being too excited about their safety schools, especially in comparison to how excited they are about Chapel Hill. So, give this a read and maybe it will make you more optimistic regardless of what you hear back.
Last year, I didn’t get accepted to UNC, but I did get accepted to UNC Charlotte - which was my safety school. Now, I wasn’t super excited about going to Charlotte, but I went and I put a lot of effort into my academics, joined the Model UN club, and made some friends. What I did learn was that where you go to school doesn’t matter nearly as much as WHAT you do at school - at least on the personal level. It is easier to think that you will be remarkably happy at your dream school, but if you don’t get in don’t let it devastate you. It devastated me last year and I thought I would hate my sophomore year at a school I didn’t care about. I was wrong, this year I have had the time of my life. I met lifelong friends and got to go abroad with my club.
I guess what I am trying to say is this: if you get into Chapel Hill that is great and you should go; however if you don’t get into Chapel Hill, go to your safety school and know that you can be just as happy and fulfilled at any school as you can at your dream school.
Best of luck to everyone! I hope this post made waiting a bit easier
@InCatsCradle That’s a great story. Thanks for sharing
@Mcunn226 if we don’t receive this email today, will we not get our decisions Friday?
It could come any day this week, I imagine.
I think it’s a little early to get the email considering the fact that the past few years (for transfers anyways), the email always preceded decisions by 1 day. However, I could be completely wrong and I hope I am so you guys get decisions sooner lol.
I’m just going off what happened with RDs. Email went out on Monday, then seemingly nothing else until Friday afternoon when the decisions dropped.
If they send the “make sure you can log into my Carolina” email on the Monday that decisions come out like they did for the RD, The I expect it will be late afternoon. Looking on the blog, this was posted for RD on Monday @ 5pm. If they want me to have a heart attack and do it the day before…idk.
