I’ll be 21 this summer, so I’m down to go to He’s not Here or Might as Well with all of you 21+ transfers before FDOC. @Mcunn226
Will it be hard for us to get enrolled in ideal classes (good professors, time slots etc) since we’re registering later than other students within our grade? Or, are some spots held for transfers so that that doesn’t happen? I’m kinda freaking out that I won’t get into the classes I need for my major (Pre-Nursing)
Accepted! Incoming sophomore. I wasn’t expecting decisions to be posted yesterday, but I was pleasantly surprised. Now I just have to find out where I’m gonna live next year…
Stats (just for the sake of record keeping)
School: NC State
GPA: 4.0
HS GPA: 3.8 unweighted
SAT: 1330
In-state
Congrats everyone!!
Yes, it will be difficult. There are select classes that have some seats saved for transfers but it is nothing like how many classes have reserved seats for incoming freshman. I had a lot of trouble registering last fall, but I contacted the head of my department and an advisor and they helped me get into some classes. I’m an EXSS major though so it may be easier/harder for you to get into classes you need. @lilchen98
Posting for future transfer hopefuls.

I had three stellar letters of recommendation, one from an economics professor in a class that I won the scholar award for (highest grade in the class), and two from employers. One really great essay and one that I threw together last minute.
This was my second time applying as a transfer. I got into UVa, NYU, NCSU, and USF, but my heart was set on Chapel Hill.
Pretty bummed, I thought I was set this time around. My second essay probably hurt me. I got a bad grade last year that killed my gpa. I am currently retaking the class and have an A, so I’m filing an appeal with a letter of rec from that prof as well as another prof. I will update if my decision changes…fingers crossed. Beyond thrilled for everyone who got in, and best of luck to everyone on the wait list!
I got accepted ? I will post my stats later ?
I am currently studying at UNC Charlotte, and I am excited to see that some people got accepted from it to Chapel Hill too.
So, to all people from UNC Charlotte: Would you like to connect? We could have some kind of GroupMe or Slack chat and meet up at both UNC Charlotte and UNC sometime soon
If you are interested, please reply to this message and we will figure something out ?
Anybody know when financial aid packages will be released? Or a rough estimate? I also got accepted
For future applicants
Decision: Accepted
In-State applicant
Year (Applied For): Sophmore
Major: Computer Science
Credits: 16 completed at institution (32 total) + 17 on the way
Current College: Iowa State University
College GPA: 3.82
HS GPA: (uw) 3.4 (w) 4.21
ACT: 29( 31 Eng, 29 Math, 28 Read, 29 Sci) 2nd attempt in college superscore 31 (Sci 32, Math 30)
EC’s: Lead Automation Intern during a 10-week paid internship at Lenovo. Academy of information technology in high school (programming track). Captain of track team in high school (2 years). Various places I voulenteered at for a couple of years. Took all the math and science courses that were available at my high school.
Essays: I’m not a great essay writer, I followed the tips I found on various websites by just searching the essay prompts. I feel like they were some of my better essays.
Reccomendations: All of my first year classes were large lecture classes, so I got a recommendation from one of those professors and another from my math recitation/discussion section teacher. I think they were both pretty general/so~so.
Good Luck!
@Tihshewz I think within the next week or so, depending on if you already submitted FAFSA and CSS
Also I am looking for some advice. I am currently waiting to hear from NCSU if I am a finalist for the Goodnight Scholarship. Finalist won’t be announced until May 1st… I would really love to go to Chapel Hill because it’ll be paid for with my financial aid package and I like the atmosphere on campus more. BUT the Goodnight Scholarship will have more opportunities to talk to people from IBM, Cisco, and other top tech companies. These networking opportunities are very important for my career. I hate to wait until May 1st to know if I get the scholarship or not and send my decision on the very last day. Is there anyway I can contact Chapel Hill so I don’t face the inability to get a dorm or into the courses I need? I’m a computer science major.
@girlypop13 how were you accepted to UVA? Decisions haven’t been released…
Did you get accepted to UNC @JordanBelfort1
how bad of an idea is it to wait until near the deadline to accept my offer of admission? I’m still waiting to hear from a couple of schools and I’m torn. If I put the deposit in early I could get the classes I want and housing priority but money is tight and I wouldn’t want to lose the $250
Also who is running the Facebook group? My request has been pending for a while
i’m experiencing the same issue! @jackjack24
@JordanBelfort1 Oh I’m sorry!! I should have clarified. I got into those schools last year and did not get into UNC. My heart was set on Carolina so I reapplied this year (only school I applied to) and did not get in
If you applied for financial aid and know you will be receiving it based on your EFC, you can choose to enroll but defer the payment of the deposit by financial aid. Meaning you won’t have to pay anything. @jackjack24 At least this is how it worked for me in 2018.
Is anyone else having problems applying for housing?
I’ve been waiting on the Facebook group too
Should I choose UNC over Case western and OSU? I’m from Ohio and pre med so this move is critical!!
