UNC Transfer fall 2019

You’ve got a decent shot. However, UNC will only transfer in 64 credits from a two-year school and 75 credits from a 4-year.

hi I would like to know what you all think my chances are. I am applying out of state from a small highly selective private college in the northeast. it is ranks under the top 30 in small liberal arts colleges and in top 75 nationally.
It is too small for me and not diverse at all so I am hopefully going to make a full 360 turn and try for UNC chapel hill!!

My cumulative gpa is a 3.49 (it is lower due to a weaker first semester freshman year) and I made deans list 3x since. I have an act score of a 30 and a sort of decent number of extra curriculars.
How is out of state transferring different in terms of selectivity if at all?
UNC would be a dream.

oh also I am applying to Kenan Flagler !!

hello everyone! I just wanted to see my chances of getting into UNC Chapel Hill as a community college transfer student. I am applying for the fall of 2019. Please be honest and let me know!!

Sophomore at Southwest TN Community College
GPA-3.86/4.0. But at the end of this semester I know it’ll be over a 3.9.
Credits: At the end of this semester i’ll have over 65, but i have no idea how many will actually transfer. I assume many of my general education classes.
Minor: Associate of Science with a emphasis in Psychology
Major: Business Marketing

My letters of recommendations are great and very solid, as well as my essays.

I’m a member in multiple honor societies, including Phi Theta Kappa.
I’m a student ambassador, student orientation leader, and a member of the leadership team for PTK. I’ve made it on the Dean’s List every the last 4 semesters and plan on making it again my last semester at Southwest.

Did anyone notice that they increased the character limit for the two essays to 1600 characters? I know most of you have already submitted, but I wanted to know if there were any other fellow procrastinators who also noticed. :-S

I noticed that a couple of weeks ago, a few days after I submitted my application. Those 350 additional characters would’ve been nice, but there’s something to be said for conciseness. Also, it’s not about how much you type, but what you type.

And for those who are curious:

2018
In state transfer admissions rate: 38.9% (710/1826)
OOS rate: 32.2% (524/1624)

Overall: 35.4% (1234/3490)

Average GPA was 3.7%

@Mcunn226, where did you find these stats from?

Are y’all getting excited? Before we know it we are going to be receiving our acceptance letters!!

@Mcunn226 Definitely, conciseness is important but the extra characters certainly allow for a little more detail.

@Mcunn226 those stats are pretty encouraging; Sophomore transfer, 3.69 GPA prior to this semester, 1150 SAT. And here I thought my GPA and SAT scores would bring me down a bit!

And maybe +1 for first gen?

I am a sophomore with 4.0 GPA and 1300 SAT. The stats are pretty encouraging. I hope that I will get into UNC lol.

As a Junior transfer applicant, does it help or hurt to report average ACT score (27)?

I was wondering if its better not to report unless they specifically ask.

I didn’t report mine (mainly because it was 20 years ago). But if the above averages are still close it doesn’t look like it would hurt that much if the rest of your application was above-average.

Today is the deadline - Good luck everyone!

Hey guys! Can you please chance me?

Institution: UNC Charlotte
GPA: 3.562
Major: Political Science
Credit hours: 67 (rising junior)
Club activities: Model United Nations - I made the advanced team (which requires a tryout) and I get to go to an international conference put on by Harvard in Madrid this coming March

Outside of school, I work an internship at a local non-profit that helps with integrating immigrants into American society. I also work at the student call center here on campus.

I got a letter of recommendation from the undergraduate coordinator in my department. She and I are close since she is also the faculty advisor for Model UN and knows me well.

I also applied last year - clearly I did not get in - but some friends at UNC told me that that is not something to worry about. I don’t know if they were trying to make me feel less anxious, but they said that it might actually help me more than anything.

GOOD LUCK EVERYONE!

Thanks for reading, I am excited/anxious to read your replies!

Never mind about the deadline - it’s been extended to Monday at 11:59PM Eastern

Why did UNC extend the deadline again this year? They did that last year too.
