UNC Transfer fall 2019

@HSstudentNC Do very many sophomore transfers sign up for on-campus housing? Did you like living on campus this year? My son has a beautiful on-campus apartment at UNCC. I’m trying to help him understand that the dorms at UNC are not as nice. He has his own bedroom as a freshman and a washer/dryer in the apt.

More sophomore transfers live on campus compared to junior transfers. The housing on campus was pretty good this year but it depends on where you live (suites are better than the traditional corridor style dorms). Half mile walk to classes from my dorm but still close to every campus place I need to be.

He will most likely not be assigned an on campus apartment as those are in high demand and usually taken by returning students. Transfers are unfortunately last priority for on campus housing as returning students choose their dorms months before transfers get in, leaving less options available. He will not be able to directly choose which dorm he’s assigned but he can give a preference list if he applies for housing for which UNC housing staff will assign him by based on availability. If he would prefer his own bathroom/bedroom/washing facilities, off campus options are better of course. @OnlySon2022

@HSstudentNC …once we fill out the housing application are we then notified about our housing and if so about how long after? If not it is our responsibility to just keep checking the housing portal?

It varies. Sometimes it can take up until mid June for housing to assign you a room assuming you apply soon. If you apply later, such as in May, it could be late June when you get your housing assignment. You will be notified by email once you get your assignment. @newrochelle1

@HSstudentNC …thank you

Anyone receive the letter in the mail yet?

nope @kcasssuu

@90smix Do you know when will they mail it? As I see most school mail letter on the same day of acceptance…

I live 10 miles from campus and I have yet to receive my letter.

No letter here either. :confused:

I have a question about enrollment. I am trying to enroll in ECON 400, and have all the pre-reqs with exception of stats which I am in right now. Will I not be able to sign up for it until my grade is posted for it?

I registered for French 203 even though I haven’t taken the pre-req, however I’m also registered for the pre-req so that might clear it out.

I can’t register for calculus bc my prerequisites aren’t showing. I think @Mcunn226 got into that French class because he also registered for the prerequisite.

That’s what I’m thinking. If you have the pre-req at least in the system then you can schedule the class, as it assumes you’re going to pass the pre-req.

Have any OOS students recieved their financial aid award yet??

@M4kosofsilence nooo :frowning:

I did @M4kosofsilence

@M4kosofsilence I did. I’m from SC and received mine just a day or two after admissions decisions first came out. However, my FAFSA and CSS Profile have been at UNC for months.

Does UNC max out the transferable credits at 64 credit hours? Because if so, I made myself much busier than I needed to this semester…

They max out 64 transferable from a community college that go towards your degree requirements. If you earned 70 from a community college, you’ll be capped at 64 credits that can be applied to your degree. The other 6 will still be on your transcript but not as credit hours that can be applied for your degree. @InCatsCradle
