My transfer credit report lists couple of courses from current semester (spring 2019) as accepted, but shows 0 for transferable hours. Are these credits awarded after the semester is complete?
Also, my AP exam credits are not listed in the report even though I meet the minimum requirements for credits. Are AP credits handled separately?
Thanks for your help. I’m trying to contact them, but no luck yet.
They are probably listed as classes in progress that will indeed be awarded credit hours upon completion when you send them your final transcript. AP credits should be handled at the same time as the rest of your credits, so I’m not sure why the aren’t on the report. @97TarHeel
Thank you, @HSstudentNC
About AP credit… the UNC system recently changed (just this year) how they handle AP credit, to make it more uniform. So some of you may find you have more AP credit than you thought you did. My college kid (who is transferring) had an increase in AP credit at her original institution midway through the year. There aren’t the major differences between institutions anymore.
Here’s a quote from the page, since I’m not sure I can post a link:
UNC SYSTEM STANDARDIZES AP CREDIT POLICY
In July 2018, the Board of Governors passed a new System-wide Advanced Placement (AP) credit policy. This new policy, a shared top priority of both President Spellings and the Board’s Committee on Strategic Initiatives, will make a score of “three” or higher the standard for credit across the 16 universities in the System. The result will provide students with equal footing to gain college credit, improve degree efficiency, and increase demand for college-level courses in high schools across the state.
I wish they had that change before I took PSYC 101 here at UNC lol. I got a 3 on the AP Psych and didn’t receive credit of course at that time.
@HSstudentNC Did you take the Spanish placement test? If so, was it hard? Was it multiple choice?
I did take it and it was all multiple choice. Took about 35-45 minutes to complete and I was placed into SPAN 105 (Spanish for High beginners) but decided to take 101 because I hadn’t taken Spanish since 2014. Plus, SPAN 105 is essentially a 4 credit course that contains both SPAN 101 and 102, so you move directly to 203 (Intermediate Spanish 1) right after. @Leilala
As for the difficulty, I’d say it really depends on your background in Spanish. I had taken up to level 2 in high school and no Spanish in college, so I took the first placement test which tests for either SPAN 100 or SPAN 105 placement. The second placement test is if you have completed any Spanish in your previous college and is more difficult by design. It potentially places you into SPAN 102/203. 203 is the highest level that you need for the FL gen ed.
has anyone received their acceptance packet in the mail?
I know this is kind of a personal question, but I’m wondering how everyone feels about their financial aid awards? They only gave me loans and I’m really disappointed because I’m already committed and know I want to go there, but now I may have to take out loans
I’ll share:
I got nothing, which is fine. I didn’t expect anything. Perhaps this is a generational thing, but I’m fine with taking out loans. I wish some more merit-based aid went out, but there’s only so much to go around and Roy Williams has to get paid.
No acceptance packet yesterday, and I"m 10 minutes from campus so I’ll be one of the first people to get one if they send them all out at the same time.
does anyone know how to submit a credit re-evaluation form through connectcarolina? they made a mistake on mine which is preventing me from registering for classes
and does anyone know how to sign up for summer classes? It’s only letting me sign up for Fall 2019 courses and i don’t know how to change it
If I have not been notified about credit for my classes, should I contact the school. I never submitted anything for credit evaluation so i am just confused if I need to do something?
There was a mistake on my credit evaluation too. I called admissions and asked to speak to an admissions officer. After multiple minutes on hold, I was finally helped and they fixed the error in connect carolina.
To complete a transfer credit re-eval form, go to the academics section within Connect Carolina. In the drop down list, choose “Manage Transfer credit re evaluation. From there, you’ll list the details of the class(es) you want to be re-evaluated. You may have to provide a syllabus from the class (a PDF version is fine), so keep that in mind. You could also call them about the issue as well and see if they can fix it over the phone
You have to contact the registrar or admissions about being able to take summer courses since your admission to the university is for Fall 2019. They have to manually enable something in Connect Carolina to allow you to enroll in Summer 2019 courses but that should be fairly simple. @“lee.sophia32@gmail.com”

To Whom It May Concern,
My name is NAME and I have been admitted as a transfer student for the Fall of 2019. My PID number is #### and I would like to request to be able to enroll in [Maymester/SS1/SS2] during the summer of 2019.
Thank you,
Name
Wait a couple of days and they should enable it.
omg thank you so much!!!
Has anyone not received their financial aid package yet? I had to do an additional form for verification, but finished it early last week. Should I give them a call or just wait a few more days?
@Sofiseahawk I’m in the same place right now. Gave them a call today, they just take a while, I guess. It is making me a mite nervous since I am extremely dependent on financial aid and being awarded this late in the game doesn’t sound… ideal. I theoretically qualify for Carolina Covenant but at this point who even knows.
@Bongle Nice to know someone is also in the same position. I also am super dependent on FA, but I’m sure there is nothing to worry about.
