UNC Transfer fall 2019

At my NC community college, we did not have number grades as our final grade. It was recorded as A/B/C etc. It would be very hard for UNC to see my actual number grade to convert because I myself did not even know it. I’m not sure how it works for transfers whose colleges who do record number final grades though. @Mcunn226

Thanks - the transcript I have access to doesn’t list any scores either. I don’t know if the official version sent to UNC does though.

Do you guys receive an email from UNC once you checklist is completed?

You can request an official transcript from your college and it will be identical to the one that they send to UNC. @Mcunn226 I remember it took about 2-3 weeks after I finished submitting all the checklist items before I got the email from admissions stating my checklist was complete.

@UNCISMYDREAM: Negative.

Video interview!

Log into your portal and you’ll find this not-at-all-nerve-wracking thing to complete:

"Please make sure you have your webcam ready.

Note that you will be asked to respond to TWO questions within a 6 minute (360 second) maximum time frame. Both prompts will be shown to you at the same time. Feel free to divide your time between the two questions as you see fit. You do not have to use the enter 6 minutes if you do not need that much time.

You may want to view these video interviewing tips prior to starting your interview.

Please relax and know that this is never-wracking for everyone! It is only one part of your overall application and we are simply using it to get to know you better."

That’s very interesting. We weren’t required to do any sort of video interview last year.

Don’t know if it’s a requirement per se - and it’s not coming up in my checklist as something that’s needed.

Weird, it’s not coming up on my checklist either. Hope that’s not a bad thing

I just started my interview and the first question was regarding Kenan-Flagler, which doesn’t apply to me so I’m guessing it’s a mistake on admission’s end.

I didn’t get any interview request either. Hopefully it doesn’t impact my chance of getting into UNC.

Email response:

Thank you for your email and interest in Carolina. We apologize for any inconvenience this may have cause but this error has been corrected and your application will be given full consideration under the program that you applied (------). No further action is required in regards to this issue.

Once again, we apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused and wish you the best.

Sincerely,

Office of Undergraduate Admissions

I applied for sophomore admission. 1340 SAT, 3.5 HS GPA, 3.88 GPA in 1st semester at top 50 private school and not from NC

@Mcunn226 it was definitely a mistake on admissions’ end. Kenan-Flagler does in fact require video interviews for transfers, so that makes sense as to why they asked about it. It’s strange that you were asked to do it, though.

Meh, mistakes happen. I emailed them because I wanted to make sure I was being considered for the program I’m interested in and not KF.

Can you all chance me please? I was waitlisted last year and then rejected. I currently go to Wake Forest University

currently a freshman, applying as a sophomore
college GPA: 3.5 (but I took kind of hard classes so maybe they’ll see that??)
high school GPA: 4.28
SAT: 1360
took 7 AP classes in high school
pretty solid extra-curriculars in both high school and college … a lot of volunteering and honor society kind of stuff but nothing crazy impressive. I think my essays are pretty good and my rec should be too? Don’t know if my low GPA and SAT scores will hold me back again this year

Hope everyone is having a nice week!

When I said “applying as a sophomore” I mean that I want to spend my sophomore year at UNC

@bmcfmm246 Your chances look good. Just try and raise your GPA more because they like to see 3.6+ no matter what.

Did you guys receive any type of email from admissions office regarding your application is ready to be review by admissions committees? They did that last year, my checklist is completed but hasn’t received any email yet.
