Uncertain about my qualifications for Colleges.

Hi so… I’m a bit uncertain about admission requirements for different colleges in the US so I’m just going to tell my story to see if its even a worth applying to these schools. The colleges I’m interested in are Berkeley (Haas), Northeastern (D’Amore-McKim), Bentley, Boston and Babson.

We have another grading system in Norway that rate from 1-6 where 1 Is fail and 6 is top. Translated I have a GPA of 3.5 and I took a SAT test and got 1500. In Norway the ONLY things that matters when you apply for universities are your grades. We don’t write any personal statement as you guys do so I’m hoping some of the things I’ve done outside of school matters. So here are some of my achievements

In 2012 I Became the youngest ever to cross Norway along by foot, an expedition lasting 3 months and 3000 kilometers (1 864 miles). It may sounds weird to you Americans, but it’s a serious expedition not many have done. Because of this I won name of the year (person of the year) in Norway’s Capital, Oslo. Further on I have always loved business and started my own business in 2014 and got 2. Place in the Norwegian championship in innovation and business. Due to lack of time I had to shut down my business and focus more on school. I wanted new challenges and managed to get a job in Scandinavia’s biggest Sales promotion company for IT. I succeeded in this job whilst going to High School and soon climbed the latter to becoming Product manager LG newest cellphone, the LG 3. Since I still was in school and didn’t want to drop out I rejected the job offer. This year I won a price at the Norwegian heroes gala after saving a mans life.

Also I do competitive shooting and won the state championship in two different styles.
Since I’m to late for applying I’m considering going to the Norwegian army for a year, will this help me getting in to Colleges?

Do I have a chance at any of these schools? Or should I apply on lower ranked schools?
I understand schools like Notre dame and Cornell is out of my league, I just want to get my head around how “qualified” I am for different colleges.

Ps. Sorry for my English.

I also get straight A-s in all relevant business subjects such as, entrepreneurship, marketing, accounting.

I think your business related experience are very good , but unfortunately with your grades, UCB, Cornell and Notre Dame are just out of reaches.

However, I think you will be a very good candidate for Babson College. It has a very good business programs.

How much can you pay per year? If you can’t pay, then it will be near impossible.

Hey paul tnx for replying. Money is not an issue. What about Northeastern, boston and bentley?

Boston and Northeastern is out of reach as well due to SAT and GPA. These are the two most important factor.

Not sure about Bentley, though

What GPA and SAT score should i have at a minimum to get into schools like Northeastern and Boston?

3.8 GPA and 2100+ SAT are good, but since there is no way to fix your GPA at this point, I think NE and boston should be out of your list

In Norway you can take your exams over. I can improve my GPA to 3.7 but i don’t think i can do much better than that…

Your SAT needs to greatly improve (1500 means you’re barely college-ready… perhaps like 2.5/3 would be in Norway?)
You may not have “translated” your GPA well, too - a GPA of 3.5 is not bad in the US, but it means even colleges ranked 40-50 are reaches (even with the appropriate SAT score, which would be 1800).
For the schools you listed and if you don’t need financial aid, a score of 1900-2000 would be expected.
Bentley is less selective than Babson. Look into Bryant, too - you may have a shot if you retake your SAT this January (I don’t think their deadline’s past yet).
Northeastern will primarily use your TOEFL score and may be interested in both your work/enrepreneurship experience and in the fact you’re from Norway.
Of course, students from Norway may have an advantage applying to the “Norwegian” colleges in the US, too - St Olaf is the highest-ranked and with 3.5/1500 it’s out of reach, but with 1900 and if your GPA were “actually” higher you’d have a shot. (They have a management major and opportunities in the Twin Cities - Fortune 500 headquarter central - plus a management/business semester in Chicago). Cal Lutheran and Pacific Lutheran if you want the West Coast, Luther and Augsburg if you want the Midwest (Luther is better academically than Augsburg, but Augsburg in the middle of the Twin Cities). With 3.5 and 1700 you’d get into all 4 of them I think.

Is it 1500 out of 1600? or out of 2400? It does make a difference.
I think your Norwegian trek is interesting and makes for a great essay. I think Berkeley would like that.
