I think my S feels like we are out of the “jinx” zone and so I am now allowed to divulge newsy stuff (without being accused guilty of jinxing his chances, lol). Today he was accepted to UNCSA (letter in the mail) and University of Miami (email) – both BFA Acting. This has been one stressful week as I watched all of the great news coming into CC. Happy Dance in the living room.

Londream, They love UNCSA. It was a perfect fit for both of them. Although it was a hard decision for my oldest daughter because she had originally thought that she wanted to be at a school closer to NYC. But after being accpeted to SUNY-Purchase and Boston University as well as UNCSA (among others) and after visiting the schools she decided on UNCSA and has not regretted the decision since. My youngest - who is in Costume Design and Technology - fell in love with the school while we were visiting it for her sister. As soon as she was accepted she pulled her other school applications. The school is intense, but that is what they wanted. The Wig and Make-up program has produced some award winning students recently - so I feel very comfortable recommending it to you.

Congrats!! I know how you feel. I was banned from talking about any no call backs or rejections. A UNCSA acceptance and all that stuff just washed away. I know that happy living room dance.

Huge congrats to your son, AdaQuince!!

Congrats AdaQuince on Miami and UNCSA!!! what wonderful news!!

Thank you Tech.Mom

Got a UNCSA envelope in the mail today. S isn’t home yet, but I am sure it is a rejection because I can see through the envelope and the first word isn’t Congratulations or Welcome, it is Thank you. I’ve seen those letters before. Sigh.

Thanks TechMom. Those dates work perfectly because my daughter is off for spring break that week. She’s excited to see 'Tis Pity She’s a Whore.

No news here – either way --on UNCSA. Congrats on all of the acceptances!!!

For UNCSA, a big envelope = acceptance. Small (regular-sized) envelops = wait-list/rejection. Maybe this helps.

No, not really, IsaacMT. My S got a small envelope with an acceptance.

The problem is that there are two acceptance letters. One from the admissions office and one from the Dean. I think the one from the admissions office (which is a bigger package) is supposed to come first but they were only separated by one day to our house.

IsaacMT – I understand that the mystery of who is ActingDad’s D has now been been solved. :)

Just a note to give other’s hope. My D’s EZ Arts page did not have a slot for a decision and still doesn’t. She received a small envelope from UNCSA yesterday, which I assumed was a rejection, and it was an acceptance letter! What a crazy process!

Congrats on the acceptance, cleo11. Yes - you never know what the heck is in those envelopes!

Congrats cleo11! there is no slot that says decisions on your oringinal form it magically changes to a decision line when the school finally inputs it.

Did anyone receive notice of a rejection or of a wait-list status? S has not heard anything at all from UNCSA. Also, is it ok to call and ask or is that frowned upon? We want to visit over spring break if he stands a chance from the wait list…

Well, if you decide to call, please have the student call. It doesn’t look good to have the parent call. Of course, if you are just calling in general to find out if letters went out and you don’t have to give your name, that’s okay.

^^MH is right…And you can also ask your college/guidance counselor to call–it’s their job! Ours do this all the time. And sometimes they can ferret out information that would not be given to you or your kid over the phone (bonus!). :)

My S is on the waitlist. He received his letter March 14. I see no harm in your S or his counselor calling. Looking back through the years and even some old documents on UNCSA, it appears that letters – acceptances and rejections – often roll out over the course of a few weeks.

My S auditioned on campus Feb. 17, I think? It was the last weekend of auditions.

I know 2 girls who are waitlisted.
