I’m wondering how weighted GPA seems to working lol.
I’ve taken 9 AP classes, and 5 honors classes and but weighted GPA is only about 0.2 higher than my unweighted.
@meltingsoull, I am so sorry you didn’t get in. I was rooting for you big time. Which colleges are you deciding between now? I know UC schools do not offer OOS aid, but if you go, at least you will go to an outstanding university. I hope wherever you end up will turn out to be best path for you after all.
I am pretty positive there is a rejection waiting on the portal for me to see that will make me want to cry, but I don’t want to have another sleepless night while adding more depression to it, so I will wait until the morning to check. Although UW is the only college that is the perfect fit in every way, it, unfortunately, is a huge “reach” school, so based on stats of acceptances and rejections, there will be heartbreak when I check in the morning.
Rejected around 8:30. Seattle area. Legacy. 3.3 and 1980 SAT score. I thought my essays were good and even though my GPA is low, I thought I maybe had a shot. UW was the only school I really saw myself at, but I have no one to blame but myself for not doing better in high school. No idea what I’m going to do with myself now.
@sumerwashere thank you!!! and props to you and being fully dedicated to get oos, it sounds amazing and will totally be worth it
Good luck to those still waiting to hear back! regardless of my rejection still, Go Dawgs!
@admit4wit You can’t really say that. Because if you get in, there’s always someone with better stats that didn’t get it… That’s just how it works.
REJECTED
*UW GPA: 3.28
*SAT: 660 R, 620 M, 660 W (Total - 1940)
*My essays were great (according to people who read it and in my opinion too), very focused extracurriculars with violin and science only, also had leadership roles and won awards in both fields, lots of community service (over 100 hours)
*IB Diploma candidate (11 IB classes in 2 years), in-state
I’m planning on appealing. I hope that this is just a nightmare.
Good luck to everyone else!
@collegeplanner11 wait no, what i meant was that some letters that were sent out were inaccurate (like mine for example).
if your letter says “Computer Science” without the Pre, I’m like 90-95% sure you’re a DA. It’s just the adviser I talked to said some letters were mistakenly given “Pre” on them even though the people were DA.
Got denied OOS. 3.7 UW GPA, 29 ACT. Was kind of surprised since I recently got accepted to Northeastern-- must’'ve been a super competitive year for UW
Got into direct admit for computer science! (CSE)
I got rejected OOS. 3.7 UW GPA. 28 act. My essays were pretty awesome, I guess maybe I just didn’t take enough AP and concurrent classes
Post your essays? @emmah10
Rejected.
OOS 3.8 uw 30 act. 7 APs, rigorous senior course load, great essays. Extremely butthurt because it was top choice but oh well I guess it wasn’t meant to be!
Denied in Minnesota
I applied for Psychology with a second option in Sociology
UW GPA: 3.45
W GPA: 3.6
ACT: 31
Just 3 AP classes total but practically all honors classes. The GPA is probably what got me.
I thought my essays were fine. One was really strong and the other was less so. I could’ve written about more personal things but was afraid of sounding too cheesy.
University of Minnesota and UW are somewhat comparable schools but UofM has a lower acceptance rate and I got in so this was a little surprising but it seems like it was competitive year for UW.
Oh well, I got a big scholarship for UP so I’ll probably commit there or CU Boulder, still waiting to hear back from Boulder though because I submitted basically at the last possible minute. I’m dead set on going out of state though.
Congrats to all who have gotten in!
Accepted! Computer Science…
3.95 UW GPA, 33 ACT
@GoombaJMR yay we can be comp sci buddies !
Why was I offered admission to the College of Arts and Sciences as a pre-major instead of the major/department that I requested on the application?
Most freshmen enter the University as pre-majors, either because they have not decided on a major or because they have not met all of the prerequisites for admission to a specific program. If you requested a major that has prerequisites you have not completed or it requires that you enroll at the University before applying to the major, your classification has been changed to pre-major. All pre-majors are part of the College of Arts & Sciences until you are eligible to formally declare your major. If you have questions about applying to a major, visit Choosing a Major or see an academic adviser in the Gateway Center once school begins.
^For people who were asking about pre-major…
