The email I got today for my waitlist talked about looking at our application again + the details we provide in our coursework our senior year of hs.
Do they not look at how we did the first half of the schoolyear and onward?
Guys, I think due to an old Initiative race isn’t even suppose to be considered in the application process.
@hw1234 thank you, but I don’t think I’m going for it anymore. UW is one of the schools I am serious about, however being an international student it is a bit risky to wait for something uncertain (especially seeing as they announce it well after the May 1st deadline of committing to schools). I also got waitlisted by U Miami today so I guess it was just an unlucky day!
I have been accepted to seven schools already so I am not too worried. All the best to you as well!
Hey, CC members! i hope everyone had a good day, and I truly hope everyone got accepted to your dreams schools !
I am an international student, and as you all might have noticed, the waitlist wave arrived yesterday. Although I was very luckily accepted to UW, a lot of my friends who applied UW as top choice dream school got waitlisted. Therefore, I wanted to let everyone know that UW can only admit waitlisted students based on the number of students who intend to enroll. So if you already got accepted to UW, congratulations! If you got accepted to UW but planning to go to college somewhere else, please please please withdrawal your application, so that there will be space for students who were waitlisted and also wanted UW as dream school. Thank you all! Good luck on your upcoming school decisions!
Has anyone heard back from Honors yet? Is there anyway to check the portal for a decision, or do you have to wait for the letter?
i dont know
OOS from Alabama here. I just received my physical acceptance letter in the mail (had already knew I was accepted via portal). The letter was dated March 17, and postage was marked March 18.
In the letter, it stated the following:
- Accepted to Interdisciplinary Honors Program
- Awarded Purple and Gold Scholarship of $5,500 for four years
- Awarded Honors Achievement Award
- Did not explicitly stated that I was direct admit EE, however my major listed in the letter as well as my online unofficial transcript have me down as Electrical Engineering (no “pre”)
My stats:
Intended Major: Electrical Engineering
32 ACT (35E, 34M, 33R, 27S)
SAT IIs: 780 Math II, 700 Physics
3.99 UW GPA, 4.7 W GPA
@Sinitic Does that mean that you will get your notification about the honors college through the mail?
@brookiecookie215 I believe so. In the envelope, there was a separate acceptance letter from the honors program. I haven’t received any emails from them.
Hey guys, I’ve seen some of the stats of wait listed and rejected students posted on here and must say I think the essay is an extremely important part of the process.
SAT: 1610
GPA: 3.7 running start:3.6
E.C: xc varsity, track, choir tenor section leader, FBLA, trivia bowl
As you can see my stats aren’t that great compared to what a lot of students put on here. But in my essay, I wrote about how I entered first grade in america not knowing any English and was bullied heavily for it. I wrote about how I overcame that adversity and how that has shaped me into who I am today, which was the writing prompt for the essay. I noticed many people wrote about what inspired them, or what they want to do in the future, but UW wanted to know about your past. What has made you into who you are as of right now.Not your plans for the future or why you want to do what you do. Being in state helped, but the essay was still crucial.
@meltingsoull hi! I’ve been on this site for a while and I think you mentioned that you wrote about your dead relatives? I’m not trying to sound rude but that really has nothing to do about who you are as a person. The prompt was “write about a defining moment or event that has shaped you into who you are today”. I understand that’s probably a sad story, but I understand it happened recently from what I’ve gathered and that really tells us nothing about your character or who you are as a person. Your relatives may have been inspirational to you but if I read your essay all I’d see is a guy that was really sad that his relatives died. I’m sorry this came off so harsh but I’ve seen a lot of posts on this and couldn’t help myself but chime in. Sorry for your loss.
Hi everyone! I applied for biology at UW and got accepted as a pre-science major. However when I received my letter in the mail it said pre-physical sciences major on the “I accept” form even though the unofficial transcripts say pre-science. Should I be worried?
@Supahbui what you wrote to @meltingsoull is so wrong. Losing close relative can change people a lot, it CAN shape you into a different person. People who never went through it will never understand.
@bkwebbie the same thing happened to me! Should we contact the university?
My portal has not updated and I haven’t gotten anything in the mail yet. Do you guys think that means I was rejected?

@Sinitic so all scholarship info as well as the honors notification comes in the same envelope as your acceptance letter?
@Sinitic Thank you!
Will you go to UW?
I got in and will probably go there, I am just waiting to receive my letter
can anyone tell me how inputting grades and units on the waitlist form works? it doesn’t make sense for me because my high school has a semester system, so one semester would be 0.5 units. how would that translate to autumn, winter, and spring courses? do I put them all as 0.5 units each?
When and how should I check for my financial aid package?
