We went to central mesa too! So great loved it !
Any recommendations for best burger?
I am not seeing a lot of kids posting about Alabama being the college they are attending. Numbers way down…. Is this reflective of lower admit rates?
Interesting -wonder what the admission rate is now ?? My daughter wants to go but we are still waiting on money info-she is in second round but could be moved to third for the competitive scholarships. Maybe sat submission is down so more waiting on competitive scholarships ?
Did you fill out the scholarship app ? My daughter was lifted from $24k auto to $28k.
She did ! And got into the honors program. Applied and accepted in second round so hoping to hear something in Feb!! Doesn’t qualify for merit -went TO. Wow 28k! Congrats ! That’s amazing
Oh the TO is the issue.
Good luck.
Depending on gpa, Arizona, while they are still offering big merit, could be another choice. MS State or UAH may be cheaper too. If u end up needing more options.
Best of luck.
Thanks and yeah she got a ton of scholarships from all of her schools so far, but BAMA and ole miss top of her list ! She’s also having a hard time deciding between the two. But honors college in top 10 college is helping a lot.
Don’t know about top 10 Honors College. There’s actually no official ranking. I’ve not seen that. There’s different ones for sure and typically list the same 4 or 5 plus a few others. I even found my daughters on one - but only one
I will tell you it’s by far the largest…about 25% of all students.Far more than any other school in volume.
I’m sure it’s great if your daughter takes advantage. My sons gf did. But my son said most are like him - they do it for the first year dorm and early class registration. He didn’t finish but was in all four years.
Do Honors for the kid - that they truly want it. Study the curriculum. They are all different. My son applied for some but not all whereas my daughter applied at all. He studied the benefits and curriculum whereas she didn’t. Make sure it’s right for yours.
Best of luck at both choices - if you find one affordable, that she can excel at, it’s all that matters. Honors won’t help for jobs in and of itself although solid connections can be made. etc. there’s not even a place on job apps to list it. But it’s a big help if it makes your students experience better.
I hope she finds affordability for you….and the best overall fit.
Best of luck.

When we met with President Bell in October, he said that they expect another record breaking freshmen class.
We paid housing deposit in oct. my D24 would like to sign up for another school… I am blanking out… did we have to enroll and then pay housing? How do we withdraw from the school entirely so we can accept elsewhere?
I suspect you paid but your portal should show. The link below suggests you paid.
If there is no refund you may want to hold on since the money is gone anyway - in case the student re changes their mind.
You can call admissions and ask how to decline.
Good luck.
Thanks! Not expecting a refund, just looking for a ‘decline’ option… reviewing the link you shared! Thanks!
The link just shows that you needed to pay enrollment b4 applying for housing.
Looks like $200 non refundable.
Ask admissions how to cancel it. check mybama. The option is likely there.
Personally, I’d wait. Zero reason to cancel. You have til May.
Unless there was an ED acceptance.
You never know - kids change and change again.
Best of luck.
Thanks! Did not think you can enroll in two schools at the same time?
Sure you can - as long as one isn’t an ED.
You should withdraw by May 1…especially because you enrolled.
If you 100% know she’s not going it’s ok to get out - but if there’s a sliver of a chance she’ll go back, you’ll want to keep your spot.
Enrollment deposit was paid before housing deposit. I know parts of housing is refundable. You’re right that you shouldn’t be enrolled in more than 1 at a time. But if there is no reason to jump on the next one, you could wait a while just in case. If she’s positive, then I’d just go ahead and change it.
In My Bama, under the Student Tab, there is a Student Life section. Go to Online Housing Application and under there is an option to Cancel Contract. I didn’t push it to know what comes next :).
I disagree.
Decisions aren’t due til May 1 and short of ED, I see nothing wrong with this.
If the student is 100%, of course, get it done - but we know how kids are - they flip on a dime and you never know, they might want to go back.
I guess it depends on whether you want to stick with the “affirmations” on the Common App or not. When you apply, you agree to only send in one enrollment deposit. I’m sure many people do not follow the rules, but many others do. We tend to be rule-followers here, so will only do one enrollment deposit at a time.
Here is the wording of what was agreed to:
“I affirm that I will send an enrollment deposit (or equivalent) to only one institution; sending multiple deposits (or equivalent) may result in the withdrawal of my admission offers from all institutions. [Note: students may send an enrollment deposit (or equivalent) to a second institution where they have been admitted from the waitlist, provided that they inform the first institution that they will no longer be enrolling.]”
Enrolling two schools is unethical at best and can result in losing your spot at both schools. You shouldn’t be promoting this behavior.
