University of California Transfer Students Fall 2007 OFFICIAL THREAD!!!

No, I’m history, however I have heard that law schools look down on “pre-law” majors (there are a few schools who have them). I really wouldn’t worry though, 3.6 + 170 and you’re a lock for a T14

hello, people, when do u pay ur reservation fee? if they have one?

Santa Barbara did you get accepted to UCLA today? I thought you posted that you were looking to move to West Hollywood?

just out of curiously, if you are accepted to both Berkeley and UCLA, which would you choose? If you live in Nor Cal, are you more opt to choose a school in So. Cal, ie, UCLa, and vice versa? Do you want to live in a new environment or college or stay close to home?

LaxAttack,

I’d say that 3.7+ is the minimum for a t14 from UCLA or Cal.

Funny So Cal gal, I am wondering the exact same thing. ALthough, I dont think my GPA is going to get me into cal, so I wont have to make the choice.

my bad…

THANKS LUVTOOLEARN! well, i will discuss my situation after i find out if i will still be accepted or not  it is promising though.

From the few informational sessions I’ve gone to regarding law school: they hate pre-law. Hell, they don’t care if you’re a geology major who wants to go to law school; they just want to see that you have the ability to think critically+logically, which is determined by your LSAT score and the strength of your undergraduate program.

and lax, i’ll def keep that in mind.

For those interested

Here are the law school student profile links for top schools

Yale University - http://www.yale.edu/bulletin/html/law/students.html</a>

just curious…if u major in law, aren’t u limited to anglophone countries?? i mean continental europe is roman law, not common law…

6666=korean girl or something. That’s who I was reffering to.

UCLAri: T14 schools such as cornell have an average gpa of 3.67 and 167. Other T14’s, such as penn/mich/uva/gtown/northwestern have an average admit gpa of 3.71 and 170 lsat. That’s average, meaning many people get in with below that. See: dubyax3 dot lawschoolnumbers dot com

PS, uclari: why can’t we post links?

^ because he is a LORD. only the LORDS can tell people what to do. i’m LORD OF GREATNESS, so i hold some degree of respect among my peers

draconian law=iran. That’s what i’m majoring in.

mojo: i can see fin. aid… i never stated that i can’t see fin aid…

For those that said that your undergrad dosent matter to get into law school. Isn’t it just strange that Harvard took 49 from berk, 38 from UCLA and 2 from UCI? You dont think they rank undergrads?

xygirl, my bad

laxattack, hellokorea or whatver applied late for finaid.

LaxAttack,

Links are fine. Just not links to other sites like CC.com

Anyway, yes, people get in with lower GPAs. But remember that most of the ranks of the t14s are filled with students from UCLA and above, plus LACs. You don’t want to be on the lower end of the one standard deviation from the mean if you’re not at a top 10 or 15 undergrad.

Anyway, you should look at trends, not outliers.

BTW, sauronvoldemort, you can’t major in law at most undergrads in the US. It’s a graduate study. But yes, US is common law, and therefore a bit different from much of the world.

Not at all, it’s just that Berk/UCLA have many more students, and I’d also say that you’re going to find many kinds who are smarter. I’m not saying UCLA>UCI but if you got a 4.0 in HS you will probably go to UCLA over UCI, therefore when it comes to the LSAT, a logic test, you will be able to score higher.

That’s not true – your homerism is showng :)

dhl said he’d choose UCLA over UCB and I’m sure there are others (especially people who don’t post on this board and take into account things other than “prestige”, even though UCLA has a great reputation).

I would definitely choose UCLA over Berkeley.
