Has everybody heard from UCI yet? Why did it take them so long? I feel like I wasted $60 for the application.

so uclari…

do you think uci and ucla are the same for pre-law…as in, will neither give an advantage nor disadvantage?

There really is no difference in salaries/hours from V2-V100 (V1, paid 100% bonuses this year, which resulted in 320,000 compensation). In NYC you’re gonna make a total comp of 190,000 and work 80 hours a week…

I don’t think they’re going to be radically different to the point that you can’t go to a top school from UCI, but I think that UCLA is going to offer you a more stimulating academic environment.

Plus, I think you’ll get better recs from UCLA.

SB: I dont see either giving a huge advantage/disavantage. If you’re in a “tie” with someone I’d rather come from UCLA, but so much is based off of your lsat/gpa and, if it is ever close, your ps/recs, that very rarely are there two applicants where they “just cant decide” who gets in. Then again, I’m not an admissions officer. If you are really interested in law school go to dubya dubya dubya dot lawschooldiscussion dot org. You’ll learn everything you need to know…

oh…well uci it is.

i dont really want a stimulating academic enviroment.
i just want to do what i did at ucsb: smoke blunts, not study, and get good grades and go to law school:-)

LaxAttack09,

Yeah, I was originally going into law. I even had the LSAT prep ready, and was gearing up for apps.

Then it hit me: I like my free time. I also didn’t like what I saw from my friends who were attorneys/in law school.

So here I am, getting my MA in public policy/IR. Big pay cut. Huge free time increase. Oh, and I can always go private sector and just get the six figs anyway.

santa barbarian,

Just keep a few things in mind: getting caught with drugs and having it on your record will affect law school admission. It may also affect your ability to practice law.

True that, to each is own I say…

In SB, you dont get in trouble for doing drugs ;)

Yep. The world needs State Dept. employees too. :-)

If I did go to law school, I’d become a JAG, however.

isnt free time great uclari??

especially when your friends say “darn…i missed that show…i was studying/working” and you can tell them what happened in that episode.

Hahah, well…maybe so. But any serious convictions can be problematic in the future.

Just be careful, is all I’m saying.

in mulitple california counties, possession of marijuana is

“at the leastmost offense and priority”

3.44 english major

rejected :(

and tip to everyone:

if you carry less than an 1/8 of pot, you dont get convicted. the cops just throw it away. if you have more than an 1/8, its a conviction.

i should know.

Berkely mayor chooses not to prosecute “lifestyle crimes” such as the herb ;)

For real SB!? I’ve just moved out to cali and I didn’t know that. Honestly, if I have less than 1/8, it will just be thrown out and wont even go on my record? Never knew that…

here’s a question… hypothetically, say ucb haas and ucla bizecon both offer you admission… which would you choose and why?

I’m curious on who got into UCLA as a communications studies major. I got rejected with my 3.8 GPA. If you got in what was your GPA, this seems to be one of the more competitive majors at LA.
