University of California Transfer Students Fall 2007 OFFICIAL THREAD!!!

Now that UCLA decisions have been released, how is everyone feeling about their chances at cal? Does being accepted to places like UCSD and UCLA increase your likeihood at getting into cal?

lol.

I have a feeling that I’ll be reading that line in Cal’s letter.

Because i was rejected at UCLA, im feeling pretty negative about Cal. I’m going to be bummed this whole weekend.

still pending for UCLA… ahhh… :)

Admission to UCI is so lame… they don’t even have an official letter… They just have few lines of “Congratulations, you have been admitted with conditions.” followed by several links that directs you to financial aid award reports and the website of the school you’re admitted to.

UCLA’s rejection letter is just so cold.

kevintech did you get in

HMG- UCLA and CAL admissions are independant of each other. What one evaluator liked / another may not. Your GPA is competitive, essays good, and I would assume you have some ecs.

Don’t let the rejection for UCLA imply a rejection from cal…

Hang in there, you will be fine.

PS I am a big believer in the theory that UCLA admits both earlier and allot more people than cal so that cal can then evaluate how many SIRs were then given to UCLA and then CAL can adjust their offers admissions from there. I think this is why the entire UC system has a staggered admissions setup. Of course I have been FLAMED so many times for this idea. I just dont believe the UC’s work independantly from each other on the macro level of admissions.

lmao UCSD’s got some humor… -_-
I tried to access the career center to view the list of recruiters coming to certain fairs, and apparently the ID and the PW didn’t match… and after 5th after it gave me this message:

Decision letters simply state your admission or rejection to a university on a piece of paper. Every admitted and rejected student receive the same letters respectively. Universities can spend as much or as little time customizing these letters in a less offensive manner. But guess what? It’s your decision that matters, not the content within the letter detailing the decision. If a nice letter makes you feel better, good for you.

i highly doubt cal attains the info as to who sent in SIRs to ucla and then adjusts their admissions accordingly within a day or two, haha…

verdet, i think you’re right however, that they don’t work entirely independent from eachother…but i really don’t think cal would bother asking ucla for that info especially since it releases decisions only a few days after.

I hope UCLA doesn’t roll admissions till mid-May. That would drive me crazy.

I don’t know CKD, like I said its just an idea; however, I don’t think it would be very hard to send cal data on the students that applied to both schools and how many have commited their SIR to UCLA. I do agree that the time remaning is very small; however, something on a macro level could be done to adjust your offers of admission.

If you are really commited to a school, I would think that you accept your SIR right away. Like many, I am waiting for cal before commiting to UCLA. I would assume that UCLA recieved allot of SIR’s yesterday; and the number would be substantial eneough that cal could make decisions with.

I am just trying to keep my mind off the Monday decision. I have never in my life looked forward to a Monday so badly. I am really stressed: TAP, honors, and a 3.82 English major means NOTHING at cal. It will come down to an element of luck…

Good luck to everyone!

Thanks… I appreciate that… A general observation or something specific

Question. I already got into UCLA, with a 3.62, no Ws and no Fs. Total clean record.

Would my admissions be revoked if I drop and get a W in a completely irrelevant class that does not even pertain to IGETC or my pre-reqs? Say, a 5 unit science course.

Does one W look bad? :(

So, based on last year, who gets their conditional admission revoked?

Does getting a D in a major prep class automatically cause admission to be revoked? A lot of people have been asking this and I was curious if anyone knew how UCLA responded to those situations last year.

UCLA says you should “maintain the GPA” while UCSD says not to get below a C in any course.

I am not in too much danger but I was just wondering how sensitive our conditional admission status is.

Don’t stress. whatever’s meant to be will be. ahh, that’s the best approach to everything in life, lol…as long as you always put forth your best effort anyway. plus, ucla’s just about on par with berk, and some may even argue it’s better in some ways…

WAHhhh 7,000 posts!!!
