University of Colorado Boulder Early Action for Fall 2025 Admissions

out of state direct admission into aerospace engineering, which is beyond exciting and we are very grateful! got a little merit, but definitely not going to put much of a dent in it as an out of state student. 4.3, 35 ACT/36 STEM, but very focused, extracurriculars/leadership with music and aerospace.

I’m wondering the same thing about engineering honors? I just keep seeing people talking about Leeds honors and there was nothing about it in the acceptance letter only the scholarship was mentioned.

Thank you for posting this about Leeds Honors. I went to the website to review the other FAQ’s about it. My son meets the qualifications under GPA/Test Scores but didn’t get invited in his acceptance letter. The website made it seem like offers would come before Feb 1 but someone else on here was notified with acceptance so we’re confused. I’m not sure why he wasn’t invited.

I don’t see any mention of merit either – but hoping that we get SOMETHING from the scholarship app. Looks like those awards start coming out in February?

Daughter OOS accepted for Exploritory Studies -3.65 unweighted GPA with a huge upward trend (3.95 junior year). 5 APs, competive gymnast for 10 years, internship in her area of interest (environmental studies), summer jobs, no test scores.

No merit

Yes - wondering too! Where would the 2nd letter be?

it will be just below the decision letter where you saw the acceptance. scholarship one will be the 2nd letter (if awarded)

My son is in the same situation - he has the GPA and test score, yet he did not get a notification about honors.

Same here-we kenwe that was a competitive proigram but still very disappointed

My daughter was offered pre- business but with a Presidential Scholarship. That makes no sense to me… does anyone know about appealing for direct admit?

I don’t know about appealing at CU.
OOS daughter got direct admission to Finance in Leeds and a Chancellor’s Achievement Scholarship.

OOS son got offered Pre-Business instead of direct admission to Leeds. 4.25 W GPA, lots of academic awards, tons of volunteering, part time jobs thru high school, etc, did not submit test scores. Is Leeds getting more difficult to get into? Would have thought he’d get direct admission given that his older brother who’s a Junior at CU got direct admission to Leeds 3 year ago with much lower GPA and no test scores.

We’re from Ohio and did an official visit along with a Leeds tour/info session. Maybe they put weight on that? also since Sanders became head football coach apps have soared…

OOS, accepted exploratory studies (applied for aerospace engineering), no merit. National merit finalist, UW 3.98, lots of APs (including MV Calc). Son was disappointed because he may have considered attending but with no merit, and he knows what he wants to do, exploratory studies seems like a wasted year. He was accepted at Purdue (engineering) and still waiting on a few others so it looks like UC Boulder will be a no.

OOS 3.8UW/4.2W, 1320 SAT, 30 ACT, leadership roles, 4 year varsity athlete, owns his own profitable business for 5 years, solid essays. Denied.

I understand the merit part.

But what really is the first year curriculum difference?

I don’t know what the curriculum for engineering is but this is some of what is on Boulder’s website about exploratory studies:

PES is designed to help students successfully transfer into their college of choice. We help students who are unsure of what they want to do, decide on a path and help them explore their options. This is a great opportunity for students to have the room to explore majors and find their interests before settling on a major.

Since my son knows what he wants to major in, this would be an expensive year to explore majors he is not interested in, in order to transfer into the engineering program.

FWIW, my guess is he could take the same 101 courses.
