University of Colorado Boulder Early Action for Fall 2025 Admissions

For sure!

I can’t imagine you guys reading the same letter we got. I would be irked.

My S25 (OOS) was admitted to College of Engineering with Chancellor’s Scholarship. He has a 4.4W GPA, 1480 SAT (submitted), good ECs including volunteer ski patrol, founder of mountain biking club, football team, etc. He wants biomedical engineering. Congrats and best wishes to all!

The kids that get accepted into Exploratory Studies or Arts and Sciences instead of what they requested should be asking what it takes to transfer. For example, it really doesn’t seem too difficult to get into engineering, it isn’t competitive (need to take a few gateway classes and maintain a 2.7!). Getting into Leeds is a little tougher, looks like 4 or 5 classes and maintaining a 3.2, it is also space available.
I hope folks aren’t deciding not to attend a school because of a pride issue of not being a direct admit. The majority of kids are not.

For those who have received scholarships, did your student fill out the scholarship application or are the offers created from their original application alone?

OOS accepted biochem with Chancellor’s Scholarship/ no invitation to the honors college. She did not fill out any scholarship app (nor did we do FAFSA).

wonder how they decide between honors college and merit scholarship

it was an automatic merit scholarship, based on the main application

I was waiting to hear about your son since our kiddos have such similar stats. Sorry about CU. My S25 in state also got arts and science instead of engineering.

Here is information for honors for Leeds:

Students can qualify for Leeds Honors under the following pathways. Students will be considered for Leeds Honors in the following order:

1. GPA + Test Score

We first consider GPA + test score. If the GPA on your application is a 3.9 or higher (weighted or unweighted) andyou report an ACT of 33+ or an SAT of 1450+, you will be invited to the Honors Program. If you applied with a score and do not meet this criteria, your application will not be considered under the GPA + Rank pathway. If you applied to CU Boulder without a test score, you may qualify under the class rank option below.

2. GPA + Class Rank

If you didn’t report a test score on your application, we next consider GPA + class rank. If the GPA on your application is a 3.9 or higher (weighted or unweighted) and your school reports you in the top 5% of your graduating class, you will be invited to the Honors Program. If your school provides a class rank and you are not in the top 5%, your application will not be considered for any other pathways.

3. GPA Alone

If you did NOT apply with a test score and your school does NOT rank, you will be considered for Leeds Honors through your GPA alone. Entry to Leeds Honors through GPA alone does range year to year and is dependent on the competitiveness of the applicant pool (GPA alone pathway for Fall 2024 was a 4.6+ GPA on a 4.0 scale).

Daughter was accepted - oos; college of arts and sciences; physics major. No mention of honors or merit.

I recall that honors college is just for one of the humanities colleges? There is a separate honors program for Engineering that you need to apply specifically to - app is due by end of February

OOS 25’ accepted to MechE with Chancellor’s scholarship, 36 ACT, 11 APs, several post-AP classes, rank 1, varsity/club sport, robotics leadership, eng. internship, etc.

My Son (OOS) got selected for Physics Major program (hist first choice) in Arts and Science with Chancellor’s scholarship. given that the fee is so high almost 67K/year, this scholarships helps a little bit for sure.
