My son is taking an ECE class so his info in the cas portal shows him as an ece student.
Would this have been updated if he was admitted? Wondering if anyone’s child was similar.
I found it in a comment higher up on this thread. I literally have no idea what I’m doing…this sleuthing is keeping me busy tho!
I don’t know…kinda curious myself!
Do you have a UConn email, student id?
My son has a UConn email and is from the ECE class. His affiliation is showing Storrs but he shows as ece undergraduate as status
We have this also… anyone not have it?
My guess is that this page won’t update for him until he matriculates as an undergrad maybe?? If he is currently ECE then that is his status. So this hack may not be useful for those who are ECE currently. Have you looked at the Res Life portal to see what is visible there?
We also have this- I think everyone does and I do not think it refers to merit/scholarship. I opened the link and it seems just a data page.
Looks like my daughter got branched to Waterbury after following instructions on this thread. We are instate and the reality is I wouldn’t send her there if it was free!! No offense to anyone attending but commuting is not what she is looking for. The kid has a 4.7 WGPA, 3.8 UW, multiple AP classes, sports captain, bla bla. She was awared merit from multiple schools that make the tuition comparable to UConn. No Thanks UCONN!!
does it say waterbury in the thing? just wondering cause so far people have only reported stamford, hartford, or storrs.
Yes, it does say Waterbury.
Sorry to hear that. I agree with you. But have sympathy for us Mainers? Our flagship is horrible and there is no 2nd or 3rd option. They are all pretty bad. At least Stamford, Hartford, and Waterbury have some semblance of quality under one umbrella.
Thanks. She is fortunate to have other offers that include honors programs. I have been hearing this story for years here in CT. Great students getting branched only to leave the state for higher ranked private schools. Just not sure how well that serves the state.
Same. I see Stamford. That’s… special… Firstly, she did not put a second location down, so they might as well have just denied her. Second, she got into an OOS main campus (Penn State) of the same difficulty and stature, an honors program at an amazing R1, etc. Good thing my kid wasn’t laying awake at night for this letter. Welp, we were waiting for a rejection to show we were applying to the right level of schools.
It’s so strange. We didn’t get into U Mass Amherst, our in state school, but have gotten into a ton of state flagships that are higher ranked. It just seems so much harder these days to get into the state school. We used to assume that being instate helped but it seems these days in almost every state it is way harder for these kids.
The only state that I know of where it’s easier to get in as an in state student is SC.
It’s so frustrating (and expensive)
Also- he had lots of rejections which we took as expected. But for some reason the rejection from U Mass Amherst makes me low key hate them now, hopefully it starts stinging less. I get grouchy anytime someone says their kid is going there.
similar in NC and FL
It is like… they are just moving the kids around and getting more money. If you are OOS then you pay more. UConn will get more money for all the OOS kids. Penn State the same. There were plenty of kids that got branched at Penn State that probably had similar stats to my kid but my kid did not get branched and got main. So is it the money? Is it really something else? I dunno.
