I have read several places (though of course not verified by the university) that UD moved from SAT toward rigor/GPA about two years ago in terms of their main determiners of merit. Not sure if this is true, but I’ve definitely read that from several different sites over the past year.

My son was accepted as an undeclared major student and is excited by it. He is thinking of majoring in business like finance in Lerner. Anyone know criteria to get into Lerner from undeclared path? Any insights?

Yes, according to the latest available Common Data Set (22-23), rigor/GPA - very important, test scores - important

Not tough to switch at UD. We spoke to a few students currently at the University and they said a GPA of 2.7. Not confirmed through any official channels though.

OK. that was my understanding too. Lerner is a gr8 bus school so he’s excited.

Hi there,
If your son goes into his portal, there is a pale yellow box that says " If you would like to request a change to your approved major, you may do so. Be advised that you will only see majors that are currently available and to which you would automatically be admitted." It lets you switch through the portal. I have heard you can only see majors that you are approved to switch to based on your GPA, but my son has a long list of almost all majors he can switch to if he wants. The only ones not on here are chemE and nursing, which make sense.

My daughter doesn’t seem to have that box in her portal…

Mine neither

Hmmmm. Maybe call admissions. I know my 2024 daughter had this when she was accepted as well. She wanted nursing, but they gave her health sciences, so she declined, but I remember this feature. Below is a screenshot of what it looks like at the top of portal.

DD deferred, OOS, 3.75 weighted GPA out of 4.0, 8 AP classes (3 with 4s and a 5, then taking 4 more this year), 7 additional Honors classes, tons of ECs, including Varsity track (4 years) and Theater (4 years), +part time job during school year. Didn’t report SAT scores. Applied as a Business/Marketing major. UD has requested 1st semester grades when finalized.

Hoping for good news in the spring!

Hi! Lerner college has ā€˜restricted majors’ which means that you can transfer only during certain periods and there are courses and gpa requirements. You can find additional information here Restricted Majors - University of Delaware

Wondering if waves are still expected before holiday. Still waiting OOS. Thanks!

Last year and the year before, people heard on the Friday before the holidays, so that would indicate that you could hear this Friday. After that the next wave didn’t hear until like January 10th. Good luck, fingers crossed you hear on Friday.
