nothing here for students who literally live right next to and grew up on the UD campus. No Christmas miracle for them.
What is going on UD???
This is pretty normal. Schools are overwhelmed each year with thousands more apps than they received the year before. This is definitely a marathon and not a sprint to the finish. Good luck!
Interesting. We are in-state also and didnât doubt an acceptance, but my son heard finally just before Christmas. I was thinking the same thing regarding the school leaving us hanging for so long
Honestly, I donât understand why people are getting upset as UD early action decision date is January 31 so they promise a decision by this date. (There are other schools that have promised by Dec. 24 that should have published by now.) Itâs time to panic when itâs beyond January 31 and thereâs no decision.
No panic here. Just assumed a decision would be earlier
not panicking. My two older kids went through this same process and both heard before Thanksgiving. It just feels strange when weâre going into January and half his class has received their decisions and half have not. Living here, UD is sort of the âsafety schoolâ for most of these kids. Things are just very different this year. Thatâs all.
why is this one of the only portals with no link to withdraw?
there is so much - way too much tbh - going on on that portal screen yet they donât offer a withdraw link.
if they let people easily withdraw it would allow them to free up the pile of applications that they still need to get through.
have come across many self labeled âhigh statsâ posters who have yet to get a decision back - itâs as if the school is waiting for those applicants to just walk away on their own due to getting a decision from elsewhere already that they favor or simply getting fed up with waiting. would be nice if the school added a withdraw button on the portal.
sure sending an email to the AO can serve the same purpose but itâs better use of everyoneâs time to set up an automated system like hundreds of other schools vs falling snow flakes and pictures of leaves being tossed into the air. odd use of resources.
Portal has changed today
The financial aid button was replaced with new button that says âComplete the required outside funding formâ which seems to be a pre-req for merit aid.
Once the form was filled in the button reverted to the usual âLearn about financial aidâ
Just checked my sonâs portal and he has the same button. I looked at it and not sure what to do. He has applied for one small outside scholarship and will hopefully apply for a few others. All are likely to be small. But he hasnât received anything to date
What should I put? And I wonder if this has to be completed before hearing about merit $
At the moment we have zero outside scholarships. We certainly hope to get a few but based on what I know now I am going to say no outside help
I donât understand why this feed is full of panicked parents. Everything has to be today or else their kid will just go somewhere else. Nuts. Maybe they are stay at home and have nothing else to do, who knows. Delaware said EA decision by Jan 31. Not sure why everyone expects their kid should come first. Itâs not as if Delaware is Princeton⊠Jeez. Even then I would just give them until the date specified. Have some chill people.
Thank you for this! I would have never looked back if it wasnât for your post!
Thanks @borodad! Would never have noticed that
I canât imagine most people spot that change very easily. Wonder what would happen if someone didnât. Or maybe itâs just information gathering?
Agree. Would be weird to collect data on the accepted (not enrolled) though. Snapshot in time but little long term value.
