Yay!! DD got accepted to Honors college for Comp Sci major!!
In-state, 1500 SAT, 4.50W GPA; 9 APs; NMSC semifinalist; multiple president level positions; multiple music awards; state level band. Initial acceptance was 12 weeks ago on Nov. 3rd; decision date changed to January 26th about 2 weeks ago.
(No word on merit yet, even though they told me (I called the admissions office) last week that they are already rolling out the merit scholarships then).
Congratulations & good luck all!
My son just was accepted to the Honors College! His original acceptance to the Business School was on 11/3. Like others, his portal changed to a “1/26” decision date a few weeks back but no indication what that meant. No info on merit:
In-state
4.0 GPA
1530 SAT (800 Math)
8 APs (scored 4s and 5s so far)
3 sport Varsity athlete including 2 individual state championships
Multiple clubs
Volunteer full-time sophomore summer
Work and volunteer junior summer
NM Commended Scholar
Congratulations to the others that have heard - and good luck to those still waiting!
Is she high stats? Wondering if there may be more honors later for lower stats (or test optional) kids
My kiddo got into the Honors College today. Received an email after the portal had updated. He had the 1/26 date change a while back. He’s an OOS - 4.0 UW, 1560 SAT kid who applied to Computer Science. Thrilled to have the option to make a big school smaller.
Her stats are good, but not as high as some others I’ve seen here. She has 1450 SAT, 4.38 WGPA, 7 APs, good ECs in sports, service club and orchestra with leadership roles in her sport and a service club, community service, part time job, NHS and 3 other honor societies.
Thanks, my D is similar but test optional.
I can’t imagine all of the honors college acceptances went out tonight especially since the portal message was just updated in the last week or so to say that all honors decisions would be posted by mid-March. I think tonight was wave one with more to come over the next several weeks. Curious if all of tonight’s acceptances were from the same school. My daughter is Lerner College of Business.
Good point, looks like business and comp sci so far.
In-state son received honors college acceptance tonight. Poly sci major, 3.95UW, 4.5W, 1510 SAT submitted. Good ECs and essays. He is more excited about the interview for World Scholars, though.
Does everyone get accepted as a candidate for the World Scholars program?
I am not entirely sure how it works. He received an invitation to schedule an interview. Not sure if it was via email or the portal. It is not open to all majors. But I believe that students accepted into an eligible major can choose to apply.
DS accepted to honors - original acceptance 11/3, portal changed to 1/26 when everyone else’s did
Chem major
OOS
3.96 UW
4.6 W
1470 SAT
He was pretty excited about this! (Although he is a kid to show over the top). Also accepted to UMd and NC State last night.
Really hoping they release info about accepted students days soon. He really wants to go to this one but his commitments make it so that we are likely only able to make the Feb one happen.
Anyone with prior experience know if they have soecial programming thise days for honors?
D24 accepted to honors yesterday as well. She received an email that there was an update and checked her portal. OOS, high stats, some local and national level awards, lots of leadership. She’s an environmental policy major.
OOS D24 got into honors college as well. Biological sciences major.
OOS D24 accepted into honors college. Engineering major. Initial acceptance was on Dec 24.
Received scholars & fellows invite. Will check portal for honors. Don’t think any merit info’s come yet.
Congratulations to all accepted unfortunately my OOS DS rejected
Oh no, I’m sorry. I’m sure he’ll have other options and will find himself very happy at whatever one he chooses!
Yes, my son received that as well. I thought it would be something new when I saw the envelope, but it was just a print version of what was already on the portal. Still, there are a couple of very interesting options. I think my son might reach out to get more information.
What were the stats & when was the initial acceptance?
