University of Delaware Early Action for Fall 2024 Admissions

And since these are high stats students many may land elsewhere (ED etc) , so they would dip back into list a few times

Random question for all of you that have visited. Is the campus mostly car free? Hard to tell online. My kid really doesn’t like busy streets, cars, buses, etc within a campus and likes it to be quieter and walkable, with lots of shops, restaurants on periphery. I’m hoping that Newark fits that bill, from the videos I’ve seen it seems to. For comparison she likes Elon and IU. (But thought Elon needed more amenities near campus)

Its mixed.

The majority is a few long quads that are very pretty with Colonial style brick buildings. These are completely car free quads with one street between them.

The remainder of the campus is small streets shared by cars and pedestrians.

It is a nice campus - very walkable to everything yet a Main Street for restaurants and shops right next to campus. Probably one of the nicer campuses I’ve seen.

Agree with the others. It was one of our favorite campuses. I remember lots of pretty buildings and green space. Nearby College town area. Do not recall feeling like there was much traffic running through it.

I would give UDel the lowest score on the Brutalist architecture scale for any of our campus visits. American and UMass being high on that scale. UDel is surprisingly quaint

Thanks, all! One more q. My d would likely go Greek. She’s an outgoing, mainstream girl next door type. Seems like a good fit from what we’ve seen on YouTube videos, Zeemee etc. Is the UD sorority rush system super cutthroat a la SEC and Indiana, etc or more typical?

UMass has some lovely areas, and it’s a possibility for our son, but the hotel and student center area definitely has more concrete than I’d prefer. Of the schools my son is considering, his favorite in terms of how they look are UD and UNH. UVM is up there, too, but not to the same extent.

My daughter rushed and was very involved in her sorority. Most of her 5 roommates sophomore year rushed too, most ended up in different ones but it was no big deal, nice even. I would say not cutthroat at all. I do think (hope) times are changing, my daughter at Clemson loved her rushing/pledging experience and said everyone was so nice.

Congrats! Yes, they seem to be trickling out every few weeks.

5:00 has come and gone and its awful quiet in here. Anyone with the Feb 21 date change get any news? FB world has convinced itself that its HC decisions, which make sense to me. So far, nothing here.

Nada

My kid got her honors acceptance today. I don’t know if their portal said anything or not before today. They didn’t mention it and I didn’t ask. It makes me a little hopeful for merit aid. My kid really likes the school, but OOS costs are steep.

It’s rejection for us.

My daughter is waitlisted for honors, came via email today (our date was updated on portal so we knew it was coming). So I guess she may have a shot, once the highest stats kids settle into their top choices

My daughter is also waitlisted.

Has anyone who has heard on Honors applied for admission into the music programs? My daughter is waiting on official notification of acceptance into the music program and I don’t know if this has any impact on an honors decision (she was a very early acceptance into University and I think has competitive stats for honors).

Twin A (undeclared engineering) accepted to honors.
